Show more appreciation to your part time employees because without them your managers would quit at a more alarming rate. I personally work 5 days a week 1-5 at 8.50 after being there 4 years; my manager put in for a raise for me and had it cut in half and told I don’t deserve more unless I go to full time or management. It doesn’t matter what sacrifices you make for this company if you are part time you are expendable. I’ve had to work in one specific store 10+ times in 4 years FIXING their stockroom, work at two stores in one day doing both shipments, driven out of state several times to fix another stores stockroom 4-5 times and never was offered hotel stay or gas mileage. For example the company doesn’t recognize the position of stock person they just see sales associates so they don’t feel the need to pay one person what a wharehouse person would normally get for doing the same job elsewhere or even at another sneaker store. I personally have experience in shipping and receiving from working at footlocker; I would spend full work days transferring shoes so it was a shock to me that DTLR only reserves that task for management which then causes a lot more unnecessary issues because you have 2-3 people in charge of a task that you can give to one person which then would remove the managers from having to stop throughout their day to transfer product out. I’ve seen the CEO several times in my store but they are never concerned with part timers concerns because tomorrow I could be gone; they are only there to stroke the ego of the managers, tell them they are doing good and scout future locations. I can promise you they don’t have time to listen to a minimum wage employee they see as someone just employed for a discount they don’t see the employee who is working to put food on the table and keep somewhat of a roof over their head.
