It was an okay job, the only issue was working mandatory overtime. Which was when the weather changes ie storms or snow. Other than that it was a good job with good benefits.

Duke Energy is a high paced inbound call center. The management micromanages with very little support! The calls do not stop coming in and you will be required to take calls from North Carolina … The pay sucks and you are humiliated if you do not sell sub products such as “ warranty” to earn a bonus which they display for all others to see and calculate your bonus. It will break your heart to see coworkers being cruel to customers who cannot afford to pay their electricity bill and are shut off accumulating extra fees. Must take over 110 calls a day!

It’s an incredible amount of inbound calls which takes a lot of mental energy to keep track of all the rules and regulations when dealing with utilities. It can be rewarding to help people genuinely in need, but the majority of stress is dealing with disgruntled customers.

Duke Energy tries to promote a positive work environment, but there is no work life balance. Any major storms in any region and we HAVE to work overtime. Sometimes the overtime won’t be confirmed until 10 minutes before your shift is over. Compensation is pretty good though and there are bonuses and prize giveaways.

Loved working here. Great people and lots of challenging things to learn. Shift work can be tough at times but having a 7 day break every 5th week isn't bad.
