Low stress manageable work load with set directives
Warehouse Utility Worker (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - March 12, 2022
Featured review
E. & J. Gallo Winery selected this as a representative reviewI’ve been working at gallo for about 6 months & I love working here. You make great money, great benefits, great retirement plan. Union isn’t very much either. My day to day is manageable & my work load isn’t overbearing & backbreaking. The shifts are difficult at the glass facility they do rotating 12 hour shifts. So days to nights frequently & it can be tough but other then that the job is amazing. Co workers are awesome too
Pros
Pay, co workers, workload, retirement, benefits
Cons
None

March 28, 2022Thanks so much for sharing your experience! We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying your new role. Cheers!
A very good corporate culture made this an environment to make great money
Luxury Portfolio Sales Manager (Former Employee) - Elizabeth, NJ - September 29, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Consistent attention to positive work environment and professional development What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Severely deficient backoffice operations made sales management and frontline service delivery exponentially more difficult to attain. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? This met/exceeded my expectations and above the bar of all my previous experience. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Hustle, collaborate, celebrate, although the vast majority of the wins came about through independent hard work and persistant strategizing.

Toxic work
Brand Manager (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - August 20, 2023
If you stuck with a horrible managers it’s hard to trust them and they sure know how to work the system. HR doesn’t help at all! They say they can listen but the toxic work culture doesn’t represent their values with managers who get away with not having integrity or empathy.

Work here for a month to collect some quick money but leave as soon as you can. Not a forever job
Warehouse Associate/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) - Hainesport, NJ - July 27, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Nothing. Nothing at all besides getting free alcohol once in awhile What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The worse management you will every see. You will start work to wait to start work because they route from north jersey and send routes to south jersey which takes 2 to 3 hrs. You will be lucky if you start by second break. All management does is set on they phones until its a issue then act like they on top of the issue. It union but dont go thinking you have a good union rep. because they are a supervisor but still hourly but you wont ever see him on the floor because its beneath him. They pay every 2 weeks. And they changed from weekly. This place is trash What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic but laid back. But very badly managed. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Goto work, clock in and push a broom or find a corner to sit in until tha routes come down so we can start work. Which typically 2 to 3 hrs after u clock in.

Productive
Machine Operator (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - July 22, 2023
Close to home, making good income for not having to travel or commute. Need more room opportunities for advancement. The hard part of the job I can say probably the summer during triple digits.

Lack of organization and experience of leadership.
Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) - Chester County, SC - June 23, 2023
This is a new facility located in Chester County SC. There is an extreme lack of experience in management and engineering. A large percentage of the engineers are just out of college & making decisions without any experienced oversight. The production "Team Leads" have no idea of how to treat their employees and earn respect from the employees. The maintenance techs report to the production team leads and are required to fill in for the machine operators when they are absent and during breaks. When you suggest doing something a different way you are told if you don't like the way it is currently being done then maybe you should work somewhere else. Favoritism is common among several of the line leads and if you happen to be one of their favorites then you can get by with about anything including taking product home with you.
Pros
New facility that is clean, It is climate controlled, The pay is good for that area but lower than the larger Charlotte market, Occaisionally the company will bring a free lunch
Cons
Not much room for advancement outside of production, Several of the production Team Leads treat their employees like 6 year olds

Great company to work for
Associate Sourcing Analyst (Former Employee) - Modesto, CA - May 19, 2023
Management needs more direction with their employees. I was offered a position and spent most of my days trying to keep busy with little work. Not sure why they even were looking to hire

Not What It Once Was
Associate Brand Manager (Former Employee) - Modesto, CA - May 2, 2023
New CEO destroyed a culture that was built over years. Was once a great place to work, with amazing people, turned toxic and frustrating. This was compounded by the mass exodus of people leaving.

A good place to work but often understaffed and underappreciated. The pay does not align with the work you do and responsibilities that you have in your role

Overall great company
Level 3 Sanitation (Former Employee) - Modesto, CA - March 13, 2023
Overall this is a great company to work for. The people are pretty awesome for the most part, and the pay is great. One con would be the work/life balance, since as a new hire you'll be low seniority and will be the one covering shifts.

It is a good entry level position, but if you are seasoned sales rep, its best to go elsewhere.
Chain Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Commerce, CA - March 8, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Gallo gives excellent training and sets you up for success. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Dealing with store managers and your own District Manager. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The associates are hardworking and intelligent people. Management is not always on your side. What is a typical day like for you at the company? You visit Chain stores and typically start your day at 6am but there will be times where you will have to start much earlier. You service stores, present items the company wants moved for that month and have store order products for shelf, cold box and displays.

Fun products, great people but be prepared to WORK... And for valley wages.
Social Media Manager (Former Employee) - Modesto, CA - March 8, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The people and the benefits including access to the wine shop and discounts at tasting rooms. Some of the projects are pretty interesting too. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The workload. Gallo operates pretty lean and that puts a lot of pressure on small teams to produce big outcomes. It felt hard to take PTO and step away. People move on or are let go and it takes a long time to backfill them also adding to workload stress. I also feel there is an expectation from leadership to put in work beyond normal hours to get things done even though the company preaches work life balance. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The vibes have been off ever since Ernest took over as CEO. The culture is inclusive and the diversity and inclusion groups are great. They do thirsty Thursday activities for employees but only people working in one of the adjacent buildings truly get to participate. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Lots of meetings. This leads to feeling the need to put in extra hours because there aren't enough hours in the day to do actual work.

5 stars
Wine Sampler (Former Employee) - Fresno, CA - February 13, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The best part of working for this company is the fact that no matter what department you are working in they treat you like family. While working as part of the winemaking team I was introduced to so much new knowledge of the winemaking process and learned how each part of the facility contributed to the overall product. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? As far as the most stressful part I would say the precautions you have to take account for no matter what part of the facility you are working at. It's an industrial setting so staying safe and away from harm is one of the main duties. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The overall work environment is very positive and feels very family-like.
