A very good corporate culture made this an environment to make great money

What is the best part of working at the company?Consistent attention to positive work environment and professional developmentWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company?Severely deficient backoffice operations made sales management and frontline service delivery exponentially more difficult to attain. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? This met/exceeded my expectations and above the bar of all my previous experience. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Hustle, collaborate, celebrate, although the vast majority of the wins came about through independent hard work and persistant strategizing.

Toxic work

If you stuck with a horrible managers it’s hard to trust them and they sure know how to work the system. HR doesn’t help at all! They say they can listen but the toxic work culture doesn’t represent their values with managers who get away with not having integrity or empathy.

Work here for a month to collect some quick money but leave as soon as you can. Not a forever job

What is the best part of working at the company?Nothing. Nothing at all besides getting free alcohol once in awhileWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company? The worse management you will every see. You will start work to wait to start work because they route from north jersey and send routes to south jersey which takes 2 to 3 hrs. You will be lucky if you start by second break. All management does is set on they phones until its a issue then act like they on top of the issue. It union but dont go thinking you have a good union rep. because they are a supervisor but still hourly but you wont ever see him on the floor because its beneath him. They pay every 2 weeks. And they changed from weekly. This place is trashWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Toxic but laid back. But very badly managed. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Goto work, clock in and push a broom or find a corner to sit in until tha routes come down so we can start work. Which typically 2 to 3 hrs after u clock in.

Not What It Once Was

New CEO destroyed a culture that was built over years. Was once a great place to work, with amazing people, turned toxic and frustrating. This was compounded by the mass exodus of people leaving.

Thank you for your review. We will pass your feedback along to our Executive Leadership Team. We wish you all the best.

It is a good entry level position, but if you are seasoned sales rep, its best to go elsewhere.

What is the best part of working at the company?Gallo gives excellent training and sets you up for success. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Dealing with store managers and your own District Manager. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The associates are hardworking and intelligent people. Management is not always on your side. What is a typical day like for you at the company? You visit Chain stores and typically start your day at 6am but there will be times where you will have to start much earlier. You service stores, present items the company wants moved for that month and have store order products for shelf, cold box and displays.

Fun products, great people but be prepared to WORK... And for valley wages.

What is the best part of working at the company? The people and the benefits including access to the wine shop and discounts at tasting rooms. Some of the projects are pretty interesting too. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The workload. Gallo operates pretty lean and that puts a lot of pressure on small teams to produce big outcomes. It felt hard to take PTO and step away. People move on or are let go and it takes a long time to backfill them also adding to workload stress. I also feel there is an expectation from leadership to put in work beyond normal hours to get things done even though the company preaches work life balance. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The vibes have been off ever since Ernest took over as CEO. The culture is inclusive and the diversity and inclusion groups are great. They do thirsty Thursday activities for employees but only people working in one of the adjacent buildings truly get to participate. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Lots of meetings. This leads to feeling the need to put in extra hours because there aren't enough hours in the day to do actual work.

Great place to start your career

Great place to start your career. Great people and training. Somewhat of a flat organization so difficult to move up. Great stable environment. Culture is changing.

What is the best part of working at the company? The best part of working for this company is the fact that no matter what department you are working in they treat you like family. While working as part of the winemaking team I was introduced to so much new knowledge of the winemaking process and learned how each part of the facility contributed to the overall product. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? As far as the most stressful part I would say the precautions you have to take account for no matter what part of the facility you are working at. It's an industrial setting so staying safe and away from harm is one of the main duties. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The overall work environment is very positive and feels very family-like.

Great large family-owned company to work for with exciting work in the right positions

Company is great place to work and management is undergoing changes in project management structure to insure we lead in highly competitive market. Work is fast-paced and always heavy. Compensation is good, but may be lagging comparably. No boredom due to lack of work here. Inclusion and support is high overall. People are friendly and personable overall. Working environment for office personnel is good. Most enjoyable part of the job is working on global products that can be found in many countries. Cons involve the difficulty in adding to headcount before it is past due. Biggest negative is most positions must reside in Modesto or nearby. Company needs to catch up with other companies in adopting hybrid WFH models. Since the pandemic, we have not yet been required to be in the office 5 days a week…BUT…many positions that proved efficiently WFH in the last 2+ years need to adopt full-time Work-from-Anywhere policies to attract and retain high talented employees.

Great Company; Lots of Change

The company is a well known and established entity. There is no concern of job risk or loss due to the industry. They have a strong culture of promoting from within and giving opportunities to those who try. They are open to individuals moving to other departments to grow professionally. There is a fair amount of turn over in middle management (not uncommon in the world) and as such there was less than ideal continuity in management and career focus. On the flip side there is normally a rotation of positions open so advancement is more just a matter of time. The integration and breadth of the company also means that there are opportunities in almost every facet of a beverage production company from field management of the grapes through the end marketing, distribution, and sale of the product. The vast majority of the people I have worked with are kind, passionate, and respectable people who want to work through issues at hand and hold the organizational goals higher than their individual advancement.

Pros

Pay, benefits, opportunity

Cons

resistant to modern remote work options

A lot of good but improvement is needed

Starting with the positives:The people are extremely friendly. They will go out of their way to help out or have a pleasant conversation. This is true for leadership of departments and C-level.. I rarely run into individuals who will only meet with me with my manager due to lack of seniority. The work/life balance is flexible. I never feel pressured to check emails or work past 5 if I prefer not to. I have been told to go home or log off when it is past 5 more than once. Working late is always by my own accord and weekend work is extremely rare. I have never been denied a PTO request nor was guilted about taking PTO as I wanted/needed. It should go without saying that this can change during large initiatives, but the work/life balance is fantastic for a regular day-to-day.Stemming from the friendly environment, Gallo is also very inclusive of all. There are tons of clubs/groups for any and all who want to participate. Free coffee is available all day. Which is always a plus. Now on to the negatives:There is a lack of accountability. My largest obstacles day to day is trying to get responses and deliverables from other teams. Escalation is rarely helpful as the lack of accountability is usually top-down. This has improved over the last year or two but still has a long way to go.The culture has shifted greatly. While some of the shift has been good, there has been a lot of bad that doesn't get acknowledged. The bad has impeded on some of the positives I have noted above. Acknowledgment would be a great first step for improving.Promotions can (and will) be gated -

Pros

Friendly People, Flexible Work/Life balance, Inclusive, Free Coffee

Cons

Lack of accountability, Lack of remote options, Gated Promotions

It's an ok job. The mileage money helps with gas and fixing your vehicle

I love working there. A lot of driving but I love going to different places. I learned so much from the different stores I went to. All the stores I went to were really nice.
