Great company to work for
Associate Sourcing Analyst (Former Employee) - Modesto, CA - May 19, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedManagement needs more direction with their employees. I was offered a position and spent most of my days trying to keep busy with little work. Not sure why they even were looking to hire

Toxic work
Brand Manager (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - August 20, 2023
If you stuck with a horrible managers it’s hard to trust them and they sure know how to work the system. HR doesn’t help at all! They say they can listen but the toxic work culture doesn’t represent their values with managers who get away with not having integrity or empathy.

Work here for a month to collect some quick money but leave as soon as you can. Not a forever job
Warehouse Associate/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) - Hainesport, NJ - July 27, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Nothing. Nothing at all besides getting free alcohol once in awhile What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The worse management you will every see. You will start work to wait to start work because they route from north jersey and send routes to south jersey which takes 2 to 3 hrs. You will be lucky if you start by second break. All management does is set on they phones until its a issue then act like they on top of the issue. It union but dont go thinking you have a good union rep. because they are a supervisor but still hourly but you wont ever see him on the floor because its beneath him. They pay every 2 weeks. And they changed from weekly. This place is trash What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic but laid back. But very badly managed. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Goto work, clock in and push a broom or find a corner to sit in until tha routes come down so we can start work. Which typically 2 to 3 hrs after u clock in.

Lack of organization and experience of leadership.
Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) - Chester County, SC - June 23, 2023
This is a new facility located in Chester County SC. There is an extreme lack of experience in management and engineering. A large percentage of the engineers are just out of college & making decisions without any experienced oversight. The production "Team Leads" have no idea of how to treat their employees and earn respect from the employees. The maintenance techs report to the production team leads and are required to fill in for the machine operators when they are absent and during breaks. When you suggest doing something a different way you are told if you don't like the way it is currently being done then maybe you should work somewhere else. Favoritism is common among several of the line leads and if you happen to be one of their favorites then you can get by with about anything including taking product home with you.
Pros
New facility that is clean, It is climate controlled, The pay is good for that area but lower than the larger Charlotte market, Occaisionally the company will bring a free lunch
Cons
Not much room for advancement outside of production, Several of the production Team Leads treat their employees like 6 year olds

Not What It Once Was
Associate Brand Manager (Former Employee) - Modesto, CA - May 2, 2023
New CEO destroyed a culture that was built over years. Was once a great place to work, with amazing people, turned toxic and frustrating. This was compounded by the mass exodus of people leaving.

It is a good entry level position, but if you are seasoned sales rep, its best to go elsewhere.
Chain Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Commerce, CA - March 8, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Gallo gives excellent training and sets you up for success. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Dealing with store managers and your own District Manager. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The associates are hardworking and intelligent people. Management is not always on your side. What is a typical day like for you at the company? You visit Chain stores and typically start your day at 6am but there will be times where you will have to start much earlier. You service stores, present items the company wants moved for that month and have store order products for shelf, cold box and displays.

sometimes the pay isn't worth it
Level 4 Advanced Operator (Former Employee) - Modesto, CA - January 5, 2023
I worked there for 10 years, was a great employee, and was very knowledgeable in my field. I never got in trouble. I was talked about behind my back by management to other management and also peers I worked with. I was not a favorite. The first time I did get into trouble I was fired. Numerous people had gotten more chances than they should've for the same reason but I got fired after one mistake. This place loves high school drama. My advice would be.. to be careful and keep to yourself nobody is a friend there but for that reason, you may also put a target on your back. If management doesn't like you they will "work performance you out there" that was said in a break area by a manager there. Good luck!
Pros
pay
Cons
Management incompetent, Favoritism, no accountability, harassment, HR favorites

What is the best part of working at the company?Learning new skills under management that was patient with me What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The most stressful part was probably keeping maintenance over tanks What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The work environment and culture could be described as humbling and pushing one to further their knowledge What is a typical day like for you at the company? A typical day would be helping others while juggling other tasks

Well-rounded and positive learning experience
Associate Designer (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - November 30, 2022
Starting as an intern an transitioning into a full-time role, this job was the perfect first professional position. It allowed for an immense amount of growth and from day one, I was challenged with large projects outside of my comfort zone. Management will hold you to a high standard, but if you fall short you are helped, not frowned upon. My experience at Gallo taught me time management, clear communication, and to think outside the box. However, the compensation in the Creative Department, although decent, seemed like it lacked given the consistent heavy workload, the creativity required, and the difficulty of the work. The other major con is the location and inability to work fully remote as a full-time employee in the Creative Department.
Pros
Mentorship, Helpful and Kind Peers, Opportunity, Hybrid Job
Cons
Intense Workload, Compensation, Location

Shipping (Former Employee) - Pewaukee, WI - July 1, 2022
Your just a number to them. Easily replaced. They’ll find any way to pay you bare minimum and look for any reason to replace you with someone they can pay less to replace you with.

Great large family-owned company to work for with exciting work in the right positions
Marketing (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - April 9, 2022
Company is great place to work and management is undergoing changes in project management structure to insure we lead in highly competitive market. Work is fast-paced and always heavy. Compensation is good, but may be lagging comparably. No boredom due to lack of work here. Inclusion and support is high overall. People are friendly and personable overall. Working environment for office personnel is good. Most enjoyable part of the job is working on global products that can be found in many countries. Cons involve the difficulty in adding to headcount before it is past due. Biggest negative is most positions must reside in Modesto or nearby. Company needs to catch up with other companies in adopting hybrid WFH models. Since the pandemic, we have not yet been required to be in the office 5 days a week…BUT…many positions that proved efficiently WFH in the last 2+ years need to adopt full-time Work-from-Anywhere policies to attract and retain high talented employees.

Great Company; Lots of Change
Project Engineer (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - April 6, 2022
The company is a well known and established entity. There is no concern of job risk or loss due to the industry. They have a strong culture of promoting from within and giving opportunities to those who try. They are open to individuals moving to other departments to grow professionally. There is a fair amount of turn over in middle management (not uncommon in the world) and as such there was less than ideal continuity in management and career focus. On the flip side there is normally a rotation of positions open so advancement is more just a matter of time. The integration and breadth of the company also means that there are opportunities in almost every facet of a beverage production company from field management of the grapes through the end marketing, distribution, and sale of the product. The vast majority of the people I have worked with are kind, passionate, and respectable people who want to work through issues at hand and hold the organizational goals higher than their individual advancement.
Pros
Pay, benefits, opportunity
Cons
resistant to modern remote work options

Good Company
Seasonal Employee (Former Employee) - Fresno, CA - March 13, 2022
The job has its ups and downs. There are three shifts and management seemed good. If you like hard labor jobs, then this is a place that can give you plenty of work.

Supportive work environment, with challenges that are achievable.
Full Time Employee (Current Employee) - Modesto, CA - February 14, 2022
I am very satisfied at Gallo. The work is challenging, and interesting. There is a good amount of autonomy and you are encouraged to think outside the box. The sense of being stretched thin is there, but it is the job and I understand the expectations of my employment. I’m happy to do the work, and feel the compensation is fair for the location. Definitely the best employer in the area. With the current economic struggles, it is great to be somewhere that is thriving.
Pros
Management, work life balance, compensation, EV charging stations, on campus park/walking trails, wine shop and discounts, employee picnic(if it comes back)
Cons
Health care costs climbing and outpacing salary increases, Need more good full time employees to meet the growth rate of the company

Fun
Wine Tech (Current Employee) - Canandaigua, NY - September 27, 2021
Fun place to work and challenges you to learn new. Some downtime in the grave shift but overall not a bad job at all. Management varies but my current manager is great

Work life balance
Portfolio Manager (Current Employee) - California - September 15, 2021
Work life balance is a plus but choose where you go wisely. Newer divisions are not treated like the rest of Gallo. Pay is good. Management is hit or miss but for the most part, it’s been great.
