Dispatcher, Boca Raton, FL - June 2, 2017
Positive: Most of the people that work there are very friendly. A lot of them have been there for decades. The hours are long, but the days usually breeze by. Everyone there works very hard keep things moving in the right direction. Great benefits and a decent salary.
Negative: Almost no training whatsoever. You have to learn a lot of information in a very short time. Accuracy is essential in this position, and with just two days of "shadowing" as my training class, I made my fair share of mistakes. When you are a new employee, they forgive most of those mistakes. However, if you've been there a while and make a mistake, they can be borderline abusive. Not cursing you out, or name calling. More like being blatantly talked down to. I personally watched managers (that have been with the company over 20 years) get spoken to like they were little children. When I asked about it, I was told that it was just part of the culture at ECM, and I would get used to it. I never did get used to it though,
Even with my daily mistakes, everyone told me that I was doing a great job, and getting better every day. However, on my final day at ECM, I made a mistake that caused my manager to come over to my desk, physically pull the phone out of my hand (while I was speaking to a tech), hang up on that technician, and begin berating in front of the entire office, That was the end for me. The CEO said sorry to me on my way out the door, but I wasn't sorry. Nobody that works 40+ hours a week, and consistently gives their best effort, should ever be treated that way. I'm actually the one sorry for the people still dealing with it.
