East Detroit Public Schools Careers and Employment
ECS district once was an amazing place to work, however, I left there feeling unappreciated and not supported by administration. They said that they cared, but they didn't. If you were in need or had a question that they were unable to answer, or didn't want to answer, they would ignore your emails and never give you an answer. They chose temporary staff over staff that was on payroll. I am really disappointed in how the school has changed from when I started.
However, the teachers and other supporting staff was amazing and always gave a helping hand when needed.
Teachers are helpful and supportive of each other. Administration becomes hostile if you bring any concerns to them and do anything besides fall in line to what they demand even if what they demand is detrimental to student learning. Lack of support from administration. Emails are ignored on a regular basis if they do not want to address your question or concern. It makes for an unwelcoming environment.

The staff works very well together and it was not hard to fit in. The students can be tough and will challenge you to the breaking point. They force you to be alert at all times.
Successfully retired and have no regrets in choosing a career as an educator.
I enjoyed meeting different families over the years and have kept in contact with many former students.
