Working in production for Deka can be rough: it's dirty, quick paced, very hot in the summer, and often very monotonous. But they teach you thoroughly and care about their employees' welfare very much. Very good pay for the area, great benefits, diverse hiring practices, strong job security, and a practiced culture of safety and environmental awareness. Regular meetings for employees to be made aware of the status and plans of the business, and yearly safety and hazmat training meetings. Best job i ever had, all things considered. I've had easier jobs in cleaner environments, but with the pay and benefits and other forms of compensation (they rent out a local rollercoaster park for employees to attend free once a year!) make this a hard job to beat. The world would be a better place if more employers treated their employees the way Deka treats theirs.
Good pay, concrete hours, lots of opportunity for overtime, great benefits and other compensation, strong relationship between management and bottom employees
Rough working temperatures especially in the summer, dirty, hazmat exposure
