Great pay but work sucked
Press Operator (Former Employee) – Strongsville, OH – April 23, 2019
The pay was great with yearly raises because of the union contract, but everyone will throw you under a bus to get ahead. They are the only place I worked that required over 100% labor rate, 125% rate to be exact. The dies are old and are usually patched back together but are in need of being rebuilt. The supervisors put average shop earnings ahead of everything else and most won’t even talk to you, but will pull a lead from across the shop to help you fix a problem.
Upper management is clueless about everything and they are constantly trying to “raise and rebuild” shop morale but any suggestions are ignored. If the shift inspector doesn’t like you, good luck being issued the calipers and micrometers needed to do your job, they will always be on back order.
Also expect to get dirtier here than at any other shop, every press is at least 20 years old and is constantly leaking grease and oil onto the operator, but the office bathrooms were recently remodeled.
This is the worst place to work, run don’t walk away from them.
