Superintendent (Former Employee) – NC – October 11, 2013
Go to shop in the a.m. to make sure materials are picked up to take to jobsite. Meet everyone at 7:00 a.m. Present a safety meeting to the team, assign duties of work to be done that day. Explain the job hazards of the task to be performed. Go to work. I oversee the work to make sure safety is performed. I meet the owner and keep him informed of what is going on. We go over the project and discuss any events that may occur. Plan a schedule, progress, completion date. In the meetings Project manager and I are there with the owner and any Staff members. I plan the job and order any materials needed. Schedule subcontractors as needed on the project . Go home. What I have learned is the enjoyment of making sure everybody know what their part is and we all work together to achieve the same goal. When I have a problem I go to my Project manager and we sit down and work a solution and go forward. With co-workers as long as everyone is doing their part or job its fine. Then we have to communicate and solve the issues at hand. To me at the end of the long day it is rewarding that everything is go be okay and tomorrow is a new day to conquer.
Opportunities are there to learn and expand your abilities.
Long days when you have to shop in the a.m. before going to jobsite
