Great company to work for but compensation lacks

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The company is great and managers treat you well. Only real problem is you will not be adequately compensated for all of your driving. When gas goes up 2 dollars a gallon but your compensation only goes up a penny, something is wrong somewhere.

Pros

Treated well

Cons

Lots of travel

Just Ok

The pay was ok and you have the weekends off. No advancement within the company. Favoritism is abundant. Lack of communication from leadership and HR.You will drive all over the state and the majority of commute time isn't included in your work day.

Decent place to work with heavy miles on your personal vehicle, lots of independence with high expectations and decent pay.

What is the best part of working at the company?Start your day anytime before 8amWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company?Fixing things for stores, just for them to mess things up again. It's a complete cycle of fixing and refixing things that never ends. There's no sense of accomplishment unless you have projects at each store. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Your coworkers are the store employees. You have things you need to get done, but are seen as a nuisance to managers unless you're helping them fill their shelves. Not much of a culture unless you work near your headquarters. The further you live from headquarters, the less contact you'll get from anyone in the company. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Drive to the store, start/finish tasks at that store, drive to another store and start/finish tasks, drive home after 8 hours of work (combined with commute time if further than 30 minutes away from your house), no less.

Doesn’t get much better

Only major complaints would be pay and opportunity to advance within the company. Benefits are good, and work environment is positive and strong. Easy to create work relationships.

I enjoyed my time with Empire

I have nothing negative to say about Empire Marketing. From the division President on down, everyone I dealt with was a pleasure to work with. The best work life balance of any company I’ve ever worked for. If you have an emergency, go, we’ll figure it out. I only wish they were hiring when I moved to a new location.

Great Company to work for.

I communicated daily with store personnel, discussed business issues, listened to concerns about meat products, quality. The Management team was very supportive, allowed flexibility, worked with you on store calls, provided details regarding shelf position and planograms. I looked forward to going to work, never a dull moment. I was able to talk and meet people as a merchandiser.

Family oriented company, great hours, self start, helpful. All employees are great. Knowledgeable, will not let you fail. Company standards are implacable

overall, good company to work for

Great company to work for if you have young children. Great work-life balance. Rarely work evenings or weekends. The benefits are competitive with other companies. Above average salaries compared to competitors. Family-like atmosphere. Great company to work for if you prefer working alone most of the time. Very little focus on company vision and culture.

part time employment

Traveled to accounts to merchandise products and develop sales plans for the retailers. Engaged retail store management and evaluated and reported execution of sales plans.

Pros

flexible

Cons

part time, low paying

Very frustrating

Visit stores and build or maintain display space. Make sure shelf items are tagged correctly, and out of stocks are addressed. Sell incremental displays for our customers. I learned to interact with all store level managers as well as all department managers on a daily bases. Our local management team are very good and communicate on a regular bases. The hardest part is getting the incremental displays sold, and the pressure to get those. Leaving the store knowing that I made an impact for our customers is the most enjoyable part of the job.

Pros

I am able to work independently

Cons

Low pay for the hours and days worked

Great place to work

I enjoy working with other people, solving problems and figuring out how to do the job in the most efficient way. I am usually promoted to lead person when working on large projects. I work in a timely manner and always ready to learn new programs to be a successful part of your company.

Not a good place to work . Negative environment

Not a good work environment . The president does not look anyone in the eye at anytime of communication with others. He would not pay for things that I feel should be company policy . Such as internet service, printer ink, and provide a computer .

Pros

Car allowance

Cons

Absolutely terribly unprofessional managers

great for work life balace

This is a good place to work not much room for advancement, good for work life balance. Low key work place with very good people and support staff. I am concerned position will be eliminated.

Great work environment. Hands-off management.

Management allows employs to manage their own time as long as you complete your work on time.
