Intensive In-Community Therapist in Kearny, NJ
on June 18, 2020
Flexible and Encouraging
EmpowerU takes the time to assign cases to clinician's based on skill and not simply availability. Prior to a youth and/or family being assigned management personally calls you to discuss the case with you and determine if it is a good fit. Management frequently checks in to see how you are doing and if you have any concerns. You are encouraged within the agency to advance your career whether it be by getting clinical supervision for licensing hours or obtaining a certification to do more within the agency. The only downfalls are that you don't get to know your coworkers well as you are in the field and if you happen to be assigned to the same family as another employee you tend to only speak on the phone and there are no benefits due to being an independent contractor.

Behavioral Assistant in Kearny, NJ

EmpowerU is an excellent company to work at, especially if one is starting out in the mental health field, for several reasons. They have great values! As a company, there is a passionate focus on communication, transparency, honesty, and more, with the intention of inspiring workers and families. The children and parents offered to providers are a pleasure to work with. As a worker in the field, there is immense value and joy working with children and families to reach their highest vision. It is also an excellent way to develop yourself professionally as you engage in discussion with family members about mental health. In addition, the connection we make with youth are invaluable and will teach you about yourself. Staff members are authentic, kind, and caring. When you meet them, you can tell that they care about the work their doing. The office atmosphere reflects this attitude and has inviting aesthetics. Members strive to embody the values of EmpowerU and as a new employee, one feels uplifted to the do the same. There is a great work culture and human atmosphere in the Empower U office. They invest and care about their employees by providing trainings, education, supervision, and events to build a stronger community. The hardest part about the job may be staying organized with maintaining paperwork and notes, but once you develop a routine, it's not a problem. In addition, Empower U also uses a program called Cyber created by PerformCare to input notes for youths. Unfortunately Cyber is not MacBook compatible, so workers either need to own a windows computer or head to a local library to input notes, and this could be inefficient for individuals who only own Mac computers. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the children and families, and seeing their progress!

This company has given me the tools and support to become a better professional as well as social worker! The staff communicates well even when you work remotely and are always kind and there for you!
Intensive In-Home Counselor (Independent Contractor) in Kearny, NJ

I have been working with Empower U as an IIC (therapist) for over a year now. I can honestly say that this workplace has provided me with such great experience. Whenever I need additional support with something, my supervisor is always helpful. This job provides as much or as little as you take, depending on your work ethic. There's a lot of flexibility with this job, which I love, so if you want to work 7 days per week or 2 days per week, it's up to you. You also get to choose the locations and population you'd prefer working with. I believe the pay is fair and the amount of paperwork is normal for the field. The only paperwork I am required to do are progress notes and treatment plans, which is something every therapist should be doing anyways. I highly recommend Empower U to other providers in NJ.
