LPN Charge Nurse in Salem, OR
on January 18, 2022
It's such a small facility, it could be so lovely, instead it's a hot mess express. Gross disparity in pay across staff members of same experience/title. Was instructed to give family members of senior management special treatment by executive director at the time they stayed in facility. While the company needs to make a profit since it is a business, unfortunately they will do so by any means necessary including harm to staff on shift or risking the facility being out of compliance to take "just one more resident" when the shift is already 4 staff members short. Usually refuse to call agency staff members and just leave the shift run short. Will schedule overtime or change schedule mid week without warning or updating staff members impacted. There does seem to be room for growth in that they will bump nurses up to management positions swiftly as those also tend to have a high turnover rate.Sometimes you get a DNS or ED that genuinely cares and is supportive which is nice, but they tend to leave quickly.

I've worked for this company twice. I like the company as a whole and am very sad that they sold it to Cascadia. I might go find another Empres building close to work for.

I gave Empres a second chance hoping the pandemic had humbled how they treat people. Unfortunately I was wrong. Not a good place to work. No support. No communication. Residents highly abused.

It’s a good place to work . I enjoy working here. We have a great cooking staff. Activity director is great Small departments but everyone is respectful of one another.

Scheduling and staffing is a nightmare. Although staffing is an issue everywhere right now, the scheduler is especially bad and does not properly staff the units. She tends to ignore calls from the facility when the staffing is critically low. There is a disconnect between the scheduler and the staffing concerns. Management is aware and things remain the same.
