A wonderful environment.

Encompass Health selected this as a representative reviewWhat is the best part of working at the company? It felt like a family and you never struggled alone. It was a team effort. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Not being able help families for reasons beyond our control. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very friendly and family oriented. What is a typical day like for you at the company? It’s like working with people you have known your entire life.

August 25, 2023Thanks for the positive feedback! We’re happy that you had such a good experience.
I am glad I left. My quality of life went through the roof when I found a company who puts their employees first.
Therapist (Former Employee) - Bedford, TX - September 27, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Initially, I enjoyed my job as PRN; however, there is a supervisor in particular in the therapy department that requires much more from the therapists she schedules, then she does of herself. Instead of helping to fill in by treating patients when the hospital was understaffed with therapists, she would rather sit at a computer all day rather than help provide therapy. She creates ridiculous and even unethical schedules (by requiring therapy times that are not appropriate). There has been constant turnover especially since a change in management. In addition, they knowingly accept and admit patients who are completely not appropriate for inpatient rehabilitation. The number of elderly patients with underlying severe cognitive impairments- especially patients who’s prior level of function and baseline meant they had previously come from SNFs. The whole purpose of inpatient rehab is to get patients to return to the community, not to take advantage of their employees by making them babysitters for 95 yr old patients with severe Alzheimers. Honestly, the company should be ashamed of themselves. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Supervisors who demand work they are unwilling to do themselves. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The work environment is stressful. Management make unethical demands of their employees by accepting patients who are not fit to complete 3 hours of therapy a day. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Hectic, crazy, and at times completely -

Worst experience as a nurse.
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Sunrise, FL - September 27, 2023
Was a great idea at the time, but worst environment . Unsafe assignments with no assistance from RNT’s . Complaints lay on deaf ears, no teamwork and every body has a bad attitude maybe it’s the environment. Worst experience ever. Not to mention how badly the patients are treated made me sick.

Don't Settle for this Place
Rehab Nursing Technician (Former Employee) - Boise, ID - September 27, 2023
If you need a place that will work with you being a student, this place isn't it. Scheduling is a nightmare. FYI, there is no tuition reimbursement as much as they promise it. Management is terrible, unreliable, unprofessional, and toxic. I had great coworkers but the ones above us made the place unbearable. It's a shame that such great RN's, case managers, and RNT's have to work under such an inconsiderate management team. I worked night shift and felt unnoticed, unrecognized, and frankly invisible the majority of the time. Patient ratios and acuity is unsafe most of the time. Either you have too many patients to the point that you're overwhelmed and exhausted or your paycheck is suffering from being called off due to low census. Terrible place. There's hospitals that actually care about their employees in Boise and this is not one of them. Find better.
Pros
Great co-workers
Cons
Terrible management, scheduling, not student friendly, unreliable income

Great Mission, too much middle management
RN (Former Employee) - Oklahoma City, OK - September 27, 2023
Encompass was a great place to work for the longest time, until the company shifted from its mission and moved into more of a "corporate" model driven by profit alone. The CEO sold the company to a large corporation that owned hospital chains and everything changed. The culture, the mission, the amount of middle management personnel, and most of all the loss of focus on patient centered care.

Able to help those who need it
Registered Nurse (RN) (Current Employee) - Tucson, AZ - September 26, 2023
On a typical day, nurses and techs are understaffed, taking too many patients, and not a safe working environment. Management does not help; charges do not leave the nurse station unless it is to help the 'special staffers' or to do their work, which requires them on the floor and patients are not rehab-appropriate. Management needs to be qualified for their positions, which they are not. It is a toxic workplace with several managers who display favoritism. The hardest part is trying to ensure that the patients are safe with no help from others. The most enjoyable part is seeing patients get better daily.
Cons
Short breaks, no help, favoritism

RN (Former Employee) - Pensacola, FL - September 24, 2023
Encompass Pensacola is one of the most unprofessional, places I have ever seen. Upper management is a joke, running around and enforcing things that they don't do. Word of caution stay away
Pros
building is new

Not a good place to work.
Rehab Therapy Technician (Former Employee) - Newnan, GA - September 18, 2023
The management doesn’t care about you as a person , they look at you as a number . They rather keep the employees who do nothing and hide instead of keeping the ones who work hard and actually care about patients.

great understaffed place to work
RN (Current Employee) - Rockford, IL - September 17, 2023
when i say understaff..i mean for a rehab hospital..how does one PCT have 25 to 30 patients to answer to?not even feasible.meaning the nurse has to be primary caregiver too..the workload then just doubled.m.not sure if other facilities r so understaffed too bt thats a nursin nightmare...almost being an upgraded nursing home.workmates r nice depending on who is on schedule with you.managemnt only cares for money..employee grieviances and ideas can be listend to bt we r lucky if acted on..as long as you get the job done..get over your feelings and go home.smh

Management is really weird. I hate that they only care about the business and do not care about the employees. Everyone that works there is miserable.

Nursing Assistant (Current Employee) - Newburgh, IN - September 14, 2023
Patients can hit you and treat you however they please. Hard workloads. Pay is awful. They pay new staff more than people who have been here for 15 years.

It is just a job to them
Rehabilitation Specialist (Current Employee) - Round Rock, TX - September 12, 2023
They don't really care about the patient's well being. Pump them with med's and escort the patient to another area as if they are really rehabilitating them. The PT is not even into the physical therapy sessions. They make them do a few things then back to their room they go. It is really lack lustered to get the patient to recover. Also they gossip about patients that need more assistance. Speaking that they can't wait til the patient leaves out the facility. They are lazy, they will do the just enough to meet requirements.

Decent benefits but senior management does not care
Employee (Current Employee) - Albuquerque - September 11, 2023
Days are always busy. Senior management are entitled and do not care, appreciate or value their employees. HR does not listen or resolve employee related issues .There is favoritism among employees in the hospital, and high school drama. Totally unprofessional workplace. I highly recommend not to work here. Work somewhere where you are valued and appreciated and where management cares about you as an employee and values you.
Pros
Great benefits, pay is pretty good.
Cons
No employee appreciation, undervalued

Opinion based review
Registered Nurse (RN) (Former Employee) - Las Vegas, NV - September 11, 2023
The Las Vegas Encompass Health’s (3) has issues at the tip top. The CEO treats the employees like we’re second class citizen and has no respect for us as a staff or a leader. He’s young guy, on a power trip and never talked to the employees, like we’re beneath him, yet we’re who held up his hospital on a daily basis. You feel very devalued having a CEO like him. I’ve been a nurse for 18 years and I worked there for 2 years. I stayed because I loved the staff and we all worked great together. The benefits and pay are not great. My bosses were always engaged with us and made it fun to work for them, so at least that’s was a huge plus. Took a job making more money.
Pros
It was close to my home
Cons
Over worked for little pay
