About Us

At European Metal Recycling (EMR) our purpose is to be a global leader in sustainable materials. As consumers prioritise environmentally-conscious products, and governments around the world target net zero emissions, we know how important looking after the planet is to our customers — big and small. WASTE AS A RESOURCE That’s why EMR works with the likes of the international automotive companies, government bodies and blue chips, plus hundreds of businesses in industries such as demolition, construction and electronics, to turn their waste into a valuable resource. We use the insight gained in these major projects to help individuals join the circular economy too, disposing of their household items and electronics in a more responsible way. Luckily, most modern economies already have most of the materials that they need, from iron and steel to plastic and rare earth metals. By reusing the resources that exist in the machinery, appliances and consumer products of today, EMR helps to protect the environment of tomorrow. HELPING YOU BE MORE SUSTAINABLE At EMR, we are proud of our investment in cutting-edge technology, world-class research and dedicated team of recycling experts. With facilities across the globe and a team of over 3,000 people, our operations put 10 million tonnes of material back into the supply chain annually. Whatever your recycling requirement, EMR is ready to help you on your own sustainability journey.

Why Work For EMR?

EMR is a diverse business, which continues to grow and embrace change in a competitive market. We offer career opportunities both in our core metal recycling services and in a range of specialist functions, from plastic recycling to land remediation. Whilst we are a multi-billion-pound, international business, EMR is still privately owned, with family values at its core. It is a place where individuals can make a difference and are recognised and rewarded for their hard work. Whatever capacity you join us in – whether in yard operations or as a Software Developer – we can offer wide-ranging opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills. We promote and encourage development, demonstrated by the number of long-serving colleagues who have progressed their careers into senior management. The working environment can be challenging and often involves long hours, but genuine opportunities exist for employees who are keen to be the best and exceed expectations.

Culture & Values

EMR's success is down to the people who have helped shape the world-leading recycling company we are today; people with passion, who care about what they do. Our business thrives on entrepreneurial self-starters who are open-minded and enthusiastic; bright people, who do what they say they will do. We appreciate those who are willing to try new things and learn from their mistakes. We have a predisposition against organisational politics and prefer straight-talking people who are self-assured and can give and take constructive feedback. Ultimately, we value people who do the 'right' things – for customers, their colleagues, the community and the business. People who embody the EMR WAY. THE EMR WAY Our way is about caring and getting the job done for our customers and suppliers. We care: - For our people - For our customers - For our workplace - For our communities We do: - Solutions not problems - What we agreed - The right long-term decisions - Without wasting time or money We do this with humility and humour Our success is measured by: - Satisfied customers - Engaged colleagues - Net-zero products and services - Quality earnings - Sustainable growth  OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES 1. We keep people safe and healthy In the heavy industrial environment in which we operate, health and safety comes first in everything we do. We want to ensure that everyone returns home from work safely. We expect all colleagues to share this personal and collective responsibility to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our colleagues, customers, suppliers, partners and communities. 2. We are environmentally and socially responsible Our company exists to reduce the need to source virgin metals and plastics by recycling products, buildings and infrastructure when they have come to the end of their useful lives. This has a hugely positive impact on CO2 emissions. But we don’t stop there; we also continually work to minimise our carbon footprint through alternative technologies, energy efficient equipment and renewable energy. For more information visit our sustainability page. We are mindful of the communities in which we work and seek to make a positive contribution to them by: Understanding what the community needs and giving help and support to make positive change. See our Social Responsibility page for more information; Providing secure local jobs with opportunities for learning, training and personal development; Going the extra mile to help people from all backgrounds gain rewarding, stable employment; Being a good neighbour by minimising the environmental impact of our activities on those around us; Working with schools, colleges and universities to promote the environmental benefits of recycling. 3. We treat people with respect and dignity We believe in the principles of diversity and inclusion. At EMR, it’s not your background or where you come from that matters, it’s about attitude and delivery. We expect all colleagues to actively support our positive, inclusive culture; everyone has the right to feel valued and respected. 4. We do business with integrity We have built our reputation for being trustworthy and dependable through many years of fulfilling our customers' needs. Our hardworking people demonstrate honesty and integrity, forming strong customer relationships and enhancing our customers' experience. We want our people to continue to be the reason we stay ahead of the competition. 5. We protect the company’s interests and reputation We are committed to working in a way that upholds our company’s interests and reputation in order to maintain our ability to reinvest in our people, our operations and our future growth. CODE OF CONDUCT The EMR Code of Conduct provides a simple guide to the EMR Way of doing business and to the principles that guide all of our actions and decisions.
