Evanston is great
Paraprofessional/Teacher's Aide (Former Employee) - Evanston, IL - August 11, 2022
Overall my experience was enjoyable. This is 65 works hard to maintain committed to its diversity and equity and inclusion initiative. This has helped me to stay for as long as I have in this position. The pay is competitive however it could be more. Evanston is very diverse which has its pros and cons. Expect to work with a few nut jobs as well as many great coworkers as well. Remain focused on the students and you will do well and succeed at District 65.
Pros
Clean updated buildings
Cons
Healthcare too expensive for families

Reading Teacher (Former Employee) - Oakton, Walker, Kingsley, and Washington. - April 27, 2022
Toxic culture. Look elsewhere. Unresponsive management and administration. Minimal respect for experience. Students disrespectful without consequences. Run the other way, this district is awful.

Do not recommend
Support Staff (Former Employee) - Evanston, IL - November 20, 2021
Administrators will blame educators and support staff for anything and everything. "Taking accountability" is just a phrase that gets thrown around by upper admin, but it holds no actionable value in the long term. Administrators enjoy touting their superiority while attempting to hide their contempt and distain for educators and support staff.

Good riddance
Former teacher (Former Employee) - ES School - July 9, 2020
The new superintendent should replace his entire district office team. They stopped focusing on the important work of educating children and now a part of activist hysteria. Look at the data and it tells you the real story. You have to pass their purity tests to get in and stay in their district. Professing your politics is more important than actual skill and ability to teach children of color. They stack their leadership ranks with articulate idiots. I resigned and working at a neighboring district.
Pros
Short commute time. Wonderful children. Many committed teachers.
Cons
Atmosphere of mistrust. Incompetent leaders. Loss of focus.

cooperative teaching environment
Teacher (Former Employee) - Evanston, IL - August 7, 2018
There are many different schools within this district. My team was very supportive and collaborative. The hardest part of the job is making sure each student is given the appropriate amount of time when 75-140 kids pass through your door daily.
