Working here had its ups and downs. The company seemed really nice however its very important you realize the hours are close to none during off seasons. I went from having 30 hours in the summer to 9 hours before school even started. The other issues I had were with management in particular and not necessarily company related. I would definitely recommend it as a summer job to college students who don't plan on traveling and just want to work all summer. The pay for all the associates was $10.50 so the checks were decent especially if you don't really pay bills.
Associate (Former Employee) – Irving, TX – November 15, 2018
Our daily manager meeting would include asking us to communicate with each other to learn or correct errors. If we spoke to each other with the supervisor on the floor we were treated like kindergarteners told to turn around face forward and shop taking. You had a L shaped work surface that made it impossible to face forward at all times. One lead was terrified of her. Manager constantly contradicted expectations and needs of personnel. One lead called older folks grandma and grandpa constantly took little jabs at people. The manager also lashed out in frustration often. There was no real training. Off season hours were cut often. Lots of rushing to just wind up with nothing to do until an update. It would have been great if it was not so frustrating. I liked the job but the environment was too hard to deal with very often.
Lots of gourmet cookies for holidays and just because sent from head office. Family first attitude.
Excellent training program. Associates and management work together as a team. Excellent communication. Face paced energy. Fit and product knowledge is important and knowledge of designers and the fit of their bathing suits.. Training program is excellent I learned so much about fit and the importance of the right fit. To be firm with customers even if they like a bathing suit but it doesn’t fit properly you must do your best to delicately tell them that it doesn’t fit right and show them. It’s challenging Customers don’t always want to come out of the dressing room and let us see how they look. Our job is to make them feel comfortable and give them professional feedback always being positive.
Sometimes it’s tough to make everyone feel comfortable wearing to nothing
Loved working with customers but management was horrible
ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER (Former Employee) – Houston, TX – July 31, 2018
I thought the company was great, until my manager started to get insecure because I could run the store better than her. I then decided I was going to leave, mentioned it to a few associates; soon after my store manager and the district manager advised a plan to fire me. I WOULD NOT recommend this job to anyone, SM, ASM, and/or associates. All the store managers are incompetent and depend on the ASM to run their store for them.
discounts on designer swimwear
culture, poor management, poor corporate, company makes rules as they go
its pretty slow working here. you would thunk many people would come in cause were located in florida but not really. its a good second job because its a lot of standing around. i dint like management, they were rude and didn't work with my schedule for church.
I work almost every week and weekends. I work at least 8 hours a day. I clock in and look at my daily task. Since I was stock management I wait for the UPS delivery for my packages. I typically get 2 big boxes of replenish items and little boxes of new items. The company never had all of the supplies I need to display my new items. Backroom was very tight. The company management skill is poor. The store manager had poor communication skills towards employees and customers.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) – St. Louis, MO – July 27, 2017
Laid back place to work, managment is very nice and organized, hours are horrible. During winter sales drive is low so hours are cut back. It is better to have this job as a second job unless you are on the management team.
Third Key Holder (Former Employee) – Walnut Creek, CA – July 22, 2017
This company is one of the worst I have ever worked at. The management is poor, as well as district wise. These people do not care about the employees and there is no room to move up. I cannot explain in words how miserable those 6 months that I worked at were.
Everything But Water was my first job in retail and it taught me a lot about customer care and working with people. I personally felt that this company did not treat the employees fairly and we were all constantly stressed. Overall, I would not recommend working at Everything But Water.
Fun workplace, but rare advancement opportunities.
Sales Lead/Key Holder (Current Employee) – Fort Worth, TX – April 28, 2017
I love this place/job. However, they are a small company so they don't have very much room unless you are a general manager or assistant. Those are the only two position at a retail level that offer full time. Even as a keyholder/sales lead, it's a management position, but it's only part-time so you get the bare minimum, you work a lot, and no benefits.
I have really enjoyed working for this company, all the employees work as a team and all have great customer service skills.
Key holder (Current Employee) – Costa Mesa, CA – March 23, 2017
I enjoy working for the company I have been with them for four years and I have learned a lot of management skills from them. I do wish the company would show more opportunities for growth, especially for employees like me who have been in the company for a few years.
