Provide your higher level employees with fair compensation. The focus in "reducing costs" should not be applicable to poor wages and refusing to increase pay year to year. Almost every person I have talked to receive <$1 increase (if any increase at all) after yearly reviews. Not sustainable if your goral is to find and retain top tier talent and expect them to stay with company long term.
