Great Job/Felt Needed and Appreciated
Structural Engineer (Former Employee) –  Theodore, ALApril 9, 2018
From day one I could tell this job was unlike any other with respect to work flow. Instead of the engineer doling out the work to the designer(s) the designers brought me the work. I was still working on multiple jobs at a time as with previous jobs and still directed design.

A typical day at work at Evonik depends on what department work in. It's a face paced environment and is high stress at times. The most enjoyable part of working at Evonik was the people. Most of the people who work there are very team oriented, and enjoy sharing their knowledge.

Management has their favorites, "do as I say not as I do" workplace. Females in production are highly frowned upon.
Lab Technician/Chemist (Former Employee) –  Theodore, ALDecember 15, 2017
I looked forward to going to the bathroom just so I could sit down, high paced workforce with good pay. However, if you're a female, good luck. Advancement was granted to the entry levels, while senior employees were relocated or terminated for unforeseen reasons unexpectedly.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Biased workplace

They really care about their employees!
Chemical Engineering Intern (Former Employee) –  Chesterfield, VANovember 4, 2017
The company culture was very welcoming. People say hello to each other in the parking lot, even if you don't necessarily know each other. In my department people would even bring fresh fruits and vegetables from their gardens to share with colleagues Overall, they provided a lot of fun events throughout the work week that made working really enjoyable.

Manufacturing Services Manager (Former Employee) –  Osceola, ARSeptember 13, 2017
The company offers great benefits to the employees and you have the opportunity to take time off when needed. Some plant managers have been promoted because they have been with the company for a period of time, not because they can perform the role they need to perform.

It was a very intense environment but some of the employees help to make it better. The Laboratory manager was one of the most amazing leaders that I've ever experienced.

Good people, some good managers, too much focus on promoting technical experts to management roles.
Engineer (Current Employee) –  Mobile, ALApril 29, 2017
Not a bad company to work for, not an excellent one either. It is a German company, so preferential treatment is given to Germans. Many times technical experts with poor management and communication skills are promoted to management roles, stepping on a lot of highly skilled and more appropriately trained employees' toes. Day-to-day, the work environment is collaborative and mutual respect is present among co-workers.

Contract Engineer (Current Employee) –  Waggaman, LAMarch 13, 2017
I love working for Evonik, but I don't see myself continuing on. Career perspectives for non-Germans are slim. Great place to start out for any aspiring engineers!

Good company based on where you are located. Constantly expanding and project driven. Sometimes unnecessary meetings waste time and can waste a whole day. People are nice.
