Challenge the authority vs. responsibility associated with the position. Work harder to ensure employees were treated equal to German employees.

North American management has little or no say in most decisions. The management has tremendous responsibility but absolutely no authority to act as needed. Evonik has become strictly a German company, the Germans should focus on the business in their country and support management in other regions allowing appropriate decision making authority required to operate effectively in each region.
Honestly the current leadership - speaking of the plant manager - has a very good grasp on this site and business. They have been a great leader in my opinion.
