Health Unit Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WAJune 19, 2018
Some of the staff are exceptional, other wise there is not much to say in a positive manner. I did however learn things which I guess is a positive thing.

Do NOT even consider it!
RN (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WAApril 29, 2018
The patients of Fairfax sorely need you - but unfortunately working at Fairfax is highly toxic, unless you enjoy working chronically understaffed; rarely getting adequate breaks and being transferred to different units in different facilities/cities after very little training, so sad. It is actually so unfortunate, if Fairfax would only be more supportive of their employees they would probably save a ton of $$$! People tend to not stay very long, and it is expensive to hire and train new people! I feel badly for the patients of Fairfax, they deserve so much better
Pros
The patients - you can make a difference in their lives; and fellow staff
Cons
chronically understaffed, ;rarely get adequate breaks, at times a highly unprofessional enviornment

This was actually not a horrible place to work and I enjoyed most of it. The parts that were difficult was that everyone was too busy all the time to properly teach me what I needed to know.

Accounts Payable Specialist (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WADecember 16, 2017
The management in this place is really bad. They do not vaue employees it all about margins. They would rather let go of good emplyees just to meet FTE requirements. Emloyee turn over is extremely high.

Mental Health Technician (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WAAugust 18, 2017
I would do rounding on patients every 15 minutes following hand off from the night shift technician, write up the schedule, run meetings throughout the morning, pass out lunch and run groups and help patients with personal needs such as making phone calls, handing out supplies for showering, etc
Pros
Great benefits!
Cons
turnover rate was high

Hospital Staffing Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WAJuly 10, 2017
The day begins immediately compiling a work-force summary from the previous day. Mondays, needless to say, were very long due to completing 3 days worth of information. After presenting this to the CEO at the mandatory morning meeting, making sure the day is appropriately staffed for the 157 bed psychiatric hospital was next on the to do list.
Besides daily staffing, weekly employee scheduling and vacation/time off requests, I also maintained and updated employee late/tardy logs and processed new employee information.
The management did it's best. The nurse managers were amazing and worked within the scope allowed by the administration. Most difficult was staffing new employees in difficult wards without proper training or safety measures. The best part of the job was knowing the nurses and technicians appreciated my work and showed this by making Nov. 24th Appreciate Gigi Day and decorated my office.
Pros
Nearly free lunches, amazing Health Care Professionals
Cons
Money was the bottom line, not employee safety

Mental Health Clinician (Former Employee) –  Kirkland, WAJuly 6, 2017
Extremely understaffed and over worked for sub-par pay. Company does not offer raises and barely any opportunity for advancement. Fairfax only values the nurses, and not mental health clinicians/social workers. They will pay bachelor's level nurses more than master's level clinicians. High turn over rate. Unsafe work environments, sometimes only one nurse per 20+ patients. No support from management and negative general attitude from upper management. Does not offer good medical benefits.

Case Manager (Current Employee) –  Kirkland, WAJune 19, 2017
I like working in behavioral health - the patients are enjoyable for the most part. The majority of co-workers are respectful and caring to the patients. It is stressful and difficult as the patients have experienced a lot of trauma in their lives and are in a difficult place in the hospital.
Pros
cheap lunches
Cons
stressful

I enjoyed working with the patients but the management is tough to work for. In my opinion, the policies and procedures seem to be ever changing with no one knowing what is and isn't allowed.

Need to have a strong self esteem for this job. Most difficult students to work with. Have the ability to grow tremendously at this particular job. Learn a lot from the students that you work with.

Program Specialist and Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Everett, WAMay 31, 2016
Fairfax is an okay place to work if you are new to nursing. They do not support their staff well, usually short staffed, pay is lower than comparable companies, benefits are atrocious. It is a sometimes dangerous place to work. On the other hand I really like 90 percent of my co-workers and supervisors. I enjoyed working with the patients and seeing improvement in them. Management is what you would expect from a for profit company. Bottom line takes a toll on staff.
Pros
Inexpensive meals vouchers. Co-workers.
Cons
Short staffed, poor pay, low level benefits for a high cost.

Clinical Therapist/Case Manager (Current Employee) –  Kirkland, WAMay 25, 2016
Management expects case managers to carry 15 patients, provide good care, case management and discharge planning. Management is not supportive of the needs of the case managers which leads to poor care for the patients.
Pros
Case managers support each other
Cons
Poor pay, not listen to when concerned or need help with patient care

horrible staffing/management issues, more about money than employees, wellness for employees and patients are not the priority, money for the hospital and physicians seemed to be.

Cons
exremely high turnover, broken in every department

Clinical Therapist/Acute Inpatient Adolescent Unit (Current Employee) –  Kirkland, WaJune 8, 2015
Compensation and job security, good, but there is ever changing leadership and very little job retention. I've learned a LOT, great psychiatrists and a great clinical staff. However, there are very few "core" staff and the management of the milieus is not structured enough, making it feel unsafe.
Pros
Good experience
Cons
Stressful
