Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in Manassas, VA

Ok place to start
Turnover has been extremely high turnover rate and the pay is higher at other companies for the same job. There’s also a lot of driving and if a client cancels you need to make up those missed hours for the week.

In the beginning it was fun working here. After a month you see the company for who they are. My time at family insight wasn’t bad. It was doable. The supervisors don’t care. I started to learn that this company has a problem with accountability for sure. Whenever there’s a problem they will look to fault the employee or whomever as long as it’s not them. The supervisors don’t care because they get paid a salaried pay. Be aware that clients cancel OFTEN! Which means you don’t get paid when you don’t see them it doesn’t matter. At first I didn’t believe the reviews but it definitely is true. This company is going down hill. If you want stability and steady income this job is NOT it.

Family Insight appears to be a good company, and I thoroughly enjoyed working there at first. However, things drastically changed when upper management was under stress or pressure. There will be constant deadlines and billing requirements. There will be no grace. There will be threats of benefits being taken away. There will be policy changes without staff being made aware. There will be constant turnover. There will be lies. It's not a good place to work at all. They are greedy and quickly attempted to provide multiple services which they did poorly. In trying to become the number 1 mental health provider in Virginia, they have effectively become one of the worst to work for.

As a graduate student, FI gave me excellent experience towards my career goals. And while I certainly worked with some exceptional people, the company culture overall was not a healthy one. While management talked about self care and staff support, the words were not congruent with the actions. Benefits and pay were not good and reimbursements were non-exsistent basically. Hours were inconsistent with no accountability for clients who no-showed consistently. I ultimately left once I found new employment due to these concerns and a lack of ethical congruence between me and the company.

Everyone did the same job differently. I would ask a co-worker a question, and I would get a different response every time. They cannot keep employees or supervisors due to the over load of work that is given that isn’t in the job description. BCBAs we’re doing 3x the amount of work behind the scenes, so they were not active in cases or with technicians. Also, when you discuss your concerns, they redirected all negative energy back onto the employee instead of taking responsibility.

Basic questions for an interview.

A lot of questions regarding pay requirements. They are "low-ballers" and will try to pay you the least for the most. Hone your negotiation skills before you interview.
