Nice place to learn

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
As an intern I learned a lot and felt supported. Was a a nice place to learn. I've observed high turnover but overall nice people. Most staff feel the same, and agree that pay isn't enough

Productive & engaging

The people are very nice although I didn’t see an advancement in the career for me. The work they do is phenomenal and the faculty events encourage you to be apart of the time. My supervisor was the best. Good pto.

Supportive and positive workplace

Working at FCA provided me with a lot of experience and growth as a clinician. It also allowed me to receive great supervision and guidance during most hours of the day

Great work environment

The work environment at FCA was phenomenal and the agency recognizes their employees at annual events. Pay is typical for a nonprofit. Management was great while I was there.

They should hive their employees a raise, bonus or something.

What is the best part of working at the company? The clients that you get to help. You can see the difference you can make in someone’s life. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Everything, they want to much work but they don’t pay enough. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Other staff members are great. Upper management is out of touch with the community they serve. What is a typical day like for you at the company?VERY BUSY, and more busy. They want you to do multiple jobs with no pay.

1 star

What is the best part of working at the company?A few coworkers, as long as they’re not talking about you to your peers. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Upper management creates daily, unnecessary stress and has zero idea how to lead. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Toxic and immature. You’ll move up quicker by talking poorly about others to the right people (COO and CEO). What is a typical day like for you at the company?Painfully waiting for the day to end.

FCA provided a good experience on helping residents with mental health care but had its faults

Working with FCA as my first real job in residential care provided me excellent experience in handling an array of different individuals with mental health needs, however it can be challenging with some clients being more aggressive or lower functioning than others. With that, the pay you get for the job doesn’t really add up to the work you really do there (also having to drive residents different places and medication management) so I would say that needs to improve, I also feel general management can be more engaging but my supervisor was amazing.

Pros

Paid lunchtime, great supervisor, flexible scheduling

Cons

Challenging residents, difficult management, low pay

Super flexible with life/work balance.

FCA is place that serves satisfaction if you have a joy in helping people. Every job has its con's. This one would be the pay. They are not good with raises, and everyone makes the same in your role weather you just start or have been there for 10 years. That can be an issue. Other than this issue, the work/life balance is excellent and most of the people are great.

Good management and pay

Fair pay, had management that cared about your mental and physical well being. This was a few years ago, but upper management that is still at the company was good

Great fulfillment working with the community

Great work environment, up to date facilities. The trainings were great and current. The agency makes sure everyone has the systems to do their job effectively. Management is not so helpful, anything you need you have to get from HR.

Pros

Pay

Cons

Leadership

Very flexible and great learning opportunity

Work load is appropriate amount, flexible work schedule as long as work is completed on time and meeting 35 hours you’re in the clear. Great learning opportunity for interns or new graduates willing to work with youth in foster care

Supportive staff with a focus on positive culture

Worked there for over 7 years. Worked my way through 5 different programs. Always had supportive management staff within the specific programs who are supportive of your growth. Very good work/life balance and A LOT of PTO. HR is supportive and makes you feel validated with any issues. The professional and personal growth you can experience is well worth it. Tough time leaving.

Amazing clients but rigid work schedule

As an in home counselor your, job depends on the families weekend and after school availability. This was very limiting for me as I have children and need a steady 9-to-5 job with 40 hours. The program doesn’t allow for more than 19 hours. I loved working with the clients, I really make a difference in their lives. I just wish the program was structured differently.

Pros

Ability to work remote

Cons

Per diem not full-time, lots of traveling to clients

I felt great, giving back to kids in need of help in all areas.

Overall, great place to work at. The kids are the most important part of the program. You have to enjoy working with kids for this job. Full time or part time you'll enjoy what you do.

Pros

Actively busy with the kids. Planning events 'outdoor activities etc.

Cons

None

Rewarding but stressful

Love my coworkers and supervisors. Short-staffed in terms of support services for the children. Sometimes clients are waiting months on end prior to receiving services. Overall a good experience though.

Great work atmosphere

The program that I worked was a great place. I loved the closeness of co workers who all worked together to get the job done in the right way. Everyone taught each other

Pros

Understood work/life balance

Cons

Program closed down

Great place to start out

* A great place to develop social work skills. You get to work with youth in developing independent living skills. This requires home visits, and facilitating weekly workshops for them, including food and transportation. * The culture here is more inclusive and friendly than most - you'll see the president of the company at the annual Thanksgiving dinner here.

Pros

Free food occasionally, great work environment, management cares about employees

Cons

Late nights when workshops are held, long periods of driving

Family and children’s Association

Fully involved with families looking to have great outcomes for their children. Always looking for ways to bring families more together and give the parents skills they need to take care of their children.
