Great people and very manageable work load

Featured review

FedEx Ground selected this as a representative review
I cannot say enough about the people at FedEx, managers and other coworkers alike. Their helpfulness and friendliness made going to work each day all the more enjoyable. Work load is more than doable and on nights where freight was heavier, you never truly had the sense of being overwhelmed thanks to help received from your coworkers. You will work up a sweat, so be prepared for that.

Pros

Great atmosphere, fair pay, good benefits

Cons

Environment can get hot!

If you need money quick and don’t mind some pain

Job needs to give more hours or have better availability when it comes to work. Management needs a proper fixing, sending people home early only to leave everyone else with more mess to clean up. Not worth it knowing other jobs can pay me more for what I’m doing.

Do your Job and no one bothers you

Drive from hub to hub, run your route and no one will hover over you. Decent pay depending on contractor. Line haul is mainly over night which I like because of no traffic.

Your constantly being watched

Job was very physical. Managers do not care if you are feeling weak or sick on the job. They want you to be fast all the time. I would recommend people go to express because ground is smaller and consider small workplaces like small towns.

Pros

Great Pay

Cons

Favoritism and bullying

Productive but stressful

You will wake up at 3 in morning, pay is very competitive, shift are only 6 hours or less, there is overtime pay, sometimes you will work alone dealing with overwhelming amounts of bags of small packages and bigger boxes to be processed, every once in a while you will get free food and drinks, Some of people there are a little rude and arrogant at times, wouldnt recomend staying there on the long run.

Great place

Our hub is an amazing place. You can move up to different positions quickly. Management is good, could be better. Im trying to transfer to another ground location in a different state.

Good money to be made

Paid weekly and paid pretty well, but the job is very hard on the body and management can be iffy, also hours are pretty long but they accommodate all types of work hours

I hate it because of the foolishness they allow.

What is the best part of working at the company? My ability to make a living for my family. You can pick up different shifts to make extra moneyWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company? It's favoritism in the location I'm at. Package Handlers are allow to hit on conveyer belts, packages, and rollers with the poles that are meant to push the packages down. The noise is heard through out the building and complaints have been made and nothing has been. They do nothing about the bullying of others. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Hostile stressful. I leave work with headache due to unnecessary noise. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Busy, stressful management talk to packages handlers any kind of way.

Fun part time job

I loved working here! Easy job, it’s physical but you get used to it quickly. They train you for the job you’re placed in and no job is very difficult. The only downside was the hours fluctuate so some weeks you get only 20-25 hours. Definitely view it as a part time job. They’re very accommodating with your schedule, I used to leave early every day for family reasons and the management were very cool about it. Great benefits and a fun job overall.

Pros

Very flexible, easy job

Cons

Fluctuating hours

Unorganized and excessive probation time

You WILL be forced to pick up others slack. Not a manageable wage unless you put in 60+ hours a week, which in most cases, is done by manipulating the drive time on the scanner. Basically meaning you’ll work more than what terminal allows. Super unorganized and unprofessional. Everyone is basically made to lie on the groundcloud and scanners for vehicle inspections just to be able to dispatch. Don’t count on having your equipment/uniforms for months. Other drivers that drive your vehicle (yes you have to share) fail to mention or actually take time to inspect your van at the end of day. Transferring to AVP time slots are ridiculous. One stop, had me transferring packages for almost 2 hours, then had to meet that same AVP driver again for an additional 45 mins. Your days are going to be long and exhausting. This little mishap caused a 14 and a half hour day from terminal, back to terminal, drove 2.5 hours in the dark from a different state. Not worth the effort or risk that you will be forced to put in.

Your experience depends on where you end up working

Your experience will depend on what station you work at. I worked at West Valley until they closed it down and that was a perfectly fine job. I liked it at West Valley but after it closed down they moved us to the new Magna station. At Magna my hours got cut and they wanted me to do stupid stuff like take a 5-hour lunch. One week they scheduled me to work one shift every day except for one in which I would have worked a 12-hour day. Just constant messing with my schedule and not even making 40 hours (as I am "full-time"). I went for making decent money working over 60 hours sometimes to barely even being able to make 40 hours.

Pros

Cons

Okay

I was a loader. Extremely simple work, but very physically demanding. A lot of repetition, not much communication, just sorting, lifting, stacking, again and again. Easy paycheck if your fit.

Fun workplace

Good company, good benefits. Good people to work with. You get paid vacation time being a part time employee. There is opportunity to grow with the company. There are several possibilities to try other positions.

Good work place

It’s was a good work place I liked the Job but the management wasn’t the best at all. It was fine till the fired the goat himself FREEDLO the best manager out

Productive but…

It’s cool place to work if you get along with people well. Favoritism is a huge problem among upper management. Just be ready to stay long hours when peak season start.

Physical but easy

Unloading trailers , physical work. Hot in the summer time. Shift finishes whenever the work is done , sometimes if done too early they'll send you to load trailers

Productive and strenuous

Hard work, but lots of exercise. Also, it is micromanaged! Mangers would stand in the truck and watch you, but barely wanted to find someone to help if the load was too big. The job is a manly job!

Exhausting but a good workout

Good management, People are always there to help out, some days are slower than others. Easy to build yourself in the company.
