Are you sure you want to be in a truck 24/7 for months at a time?
OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - April 8, 2021
Getting a CDL with FFE is not a given. Most of the students don’t pass; If you do, you will be offered a job, If you accept the job you will only make it home when you ask to be. Expect to only make about $ 500 per week, and they are quick to deduct anything that they can from that. Compare that to the between a $1,000 to $3,000 a week other companies offer. Remember everything cost more at a truck stop.
Pros
Friendly co-workers & you see the USA
Cons
Low pay and you are stuck in a truck.

Truck Driver Class A (Current Employee) - Lancaster, TX - July 17, 2019
I did not like the way they treated there employees. All they cared about is if the load made it on time. I had a family emergency and had to come home and they told me that I had to talk to my trainer.

Depends on dispatch

Long hours/never home
OTR Professional Driver (Former Employee) - Greenville, TX - August 28, 2017
It was a fun job. I got to drive all across America and now have been to almost every major city and state in the country. The real downside was being away from home months at a time and only getting a few unpaid days off.
Pros
Seeing the country
Cons
Never being home

good runs
Driver (Former Employee) - Lithonia, GA - July 12, 2017
Okay company to work for over all. when I was there they had a guaranteed pay scale witch they often failed to adhere to. I would assume that due to antiquated tech keeping up with your past bills of lading was suggested, once they called me for proof of delivery from a run done 2 months prior.
Pros
Good equipment
Cons
Old technology

Great place to work
Driver (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - December 17, 2016
Great place to work. Outstanding equipment and the dispatchers work hard to keep the drivers running even through the weekends. Both dry van and refer are available so the opportunities and earning potential are limitless.
Pros
Execellent place to start a career.

Driving a Semi rig long-haul was difficult and lonely.
Professional Driver (Former Employee) - On the road anywhere in the US continent. - March 11, 2016
DOT regulations are very strict about how many hours per day a driver can drive and how much rest and break time he needs. It requires typically a 7-day per week, round-the-clock schedule of driving and resting in order to make scheduled deliveries on time. Also, there was usually a refrigerated load, requiring extra attention by the driver. The long-haul nature of the job meant being on the road for 3-4 weeks at a time, and living at truck stops in good and bad weather. It was cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and living in a truck is a hard life.
Pros
Travel with lots of variety
Cons
Lonely with little time off

Food delivery
Commercial Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Jacksonville, Fl - July 23, 2015
Great company to drive for. Always had frozen and refrigerated produces ready to be loaded on time and scheduled deliveries that can be meet. Keeping an eye on the trailer was a key event to make sure never failed. The enjoyable part was knowing that people are being feed with the products that you deliver.
Pros
Scheduling
Cons
Traffic in Orlando

Harsh hours, good pay
Driver (Former Employee) - San Antonio, TX - February 28, 2015
Long shifts that start anywhere from midnight to 4 AM, but if you work local or intrastate you're able to come home almost every night. Always overtime, results in pretty decent paychecks.
If you're okay with working extreme hours for high pay then you can do this job. You have to hand unload the freight through and dolly it in, so you have to be somewhat physically fit.
