It's OK extra money when you're in a bind but it's not consistent work. Each job you do is different, for a different company. You don't normally work with other techs so there isn't really any comradery but I've made a couple of friends from doing some of the larger project jobs where you might work with some of the same people for a week or two. Sometimes the end customer's helpdesk is okay, sometimes it's a nightmare. It takes a while to learn which vendors are really good and make it worth your time if you're someone who is diligent and does things the right way, the first time. But, there's a lot of vendors that are wasteful of the technician's time and cause more stress than it's worth. One of the most pleasant companies store employees and helpdesk/support I've worked for was some of the truck stops/gas stations. These locations also have an incredibly wide variety of technical systems from retail/food/point of sale to wifi/security/video/telecom. Beware of companies that recruit you off of the fieldn app platform to use their direct billing system so you're not paid through fn. If you do that, you're not covered by fns platform million dollar liability insurance in case you damage something. The main thing I've liked about doing such a wide variety of jobs is learning something new each time since most of the businesses you go to have different systems and procedures.
