Personal Banker II/Teller (Former Employee) – Stephenville, Keller, and Trophy Club TX – February 26, 2018
Let me start off by saying that if you’re applying for the FFB in Stephenville, GO FOR IT!!! I worked there and it was fantastic. It had its ups and downs like any job. People do tend to stay for awhile at this particular location so moving up can be a bit difficult at times. The management was fantastic and I rarely ever had a problem that wasn’t handled correctly and efficiently. I worked for the Stephenville branch for TWO years. However, when I transferred to a different region due to going back to school, my experiences were NOT as welcoming. They were not as experienced of a region as what I came from and the managers had to ask lower level employees how to do things. No one was properly trained. It was an all around miserable experience. The pay is decent, although not up to par compared with what you have to deal with. I worked for 2 different banks in the new region with the same results. I lasted 8 months in the new job before I was so miserable that it pushed me to quit.
2 weeks vacation for full time employees starting out, decent pay, decent 401K, free checks for employees along with decent checking account
Management at some locations are horrible, moral tends to be low
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Abilene, TX – June 4, 2018
Let's just start by stating that the actual work itself is fine. It's easy, and enjoyable to speak with the customers and be able to assist them.
The real problems occur with supervisors and upper management.
Management very obviously has it's favorites and lets it be known to the whole office. I.E You put in your request for time off before them, your time off gets declined while theirs is accepted. Or you get an "occurrence" for something that they do not.
Speaking of occurrences, you're allowed 8, and you're fired! Doesn't matter what comes up or how long you've been there, there is absolutely no room for them to work with you apparently.
And obviously that causes this place to have a ridiculously high turnover rate, and never be fully staffed, because management would rather fire existing employees, rather that working with you, or understanding that life happens.
So yeah, if you want to work in a ridiculously micromanaged environment, with hardly any room for job advancement First Financial is the place for you!
Working for the IT department FTS is very stressful and unrewarding and does not allow for a balance between work and family. You are expected to be available 24/7 even when you are not on calll. Because of poor staffing by senior management you even get called while on vacation. You often work after hours and on weekends to meet the demands of the ridiculous workload. Advancement is very limited and does not provide hardly any benefits other than an increased workload.
401K and profit sharing
No balance between family and work, poor senior management, favoritism and
I would absolutely love to work here until I retire. This company cares about its people. You get what you put in also- if you work hard and keep a positive attitude you will be recognized for it. If you only do the bare minimum and have a negative attitude you’re going to have a bad experience. I absolutely love my job, and my team, and my boss and even though have faced a few challenges I have gotten nothing but support from everyone I’ve interacted with in the company. Fantastic supportive environment.
Professionalism, a truly caring staff, great training programs
Consequences for mistakes can be very big, fast paced and stressful at times, sometimes long hours
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) – Texas – February 9, 2018
Favoritism. Broken Promises. Poor Management. High school like atmosphere. Supervisor is favored by management but is extremely hateful to everyone under her. No matter how many complaints she gets in no trouble. You get paid the least to know the most.
Not the place if you're looking for long term and advancements
Personal Banker II (Former Employee) – San Angelo, TX – December 13, 2017
This bank has gone downhill quick over the last few years. Long time employees are told their positions are being done away leaving them without work after being employed there for a very long time. Most positions are given to Abilene employees leaving the San Angelo locations short handed and picking up more work loads with no pay increase. Only some departments follow procedures such as sick days. If you are a Teller or Personal Banker you will get an occurrence every time you miss a shift and doctor notes are not accepted but if you are a lending assistant you can miss as much as you would like and never have an occurrence or write up. Over the years I worked there I saw numerous positions given to outside applicants over long term employees. There is no room for advancement in San Angelo.
Management lacks maturity; high turnover rate which they incorrectly blame the employees; child-like, cliqueish working environment with hostility. The orientation is very motivating and promises a very good working environment, but it isn't. The pay and benefits are decent but not worth what you have to put up with from the management. Seriously, the high turnover rate says it all.
In house mortgage processor (Current Employee) – Abilene, TX – October 9, 2017
This company is aweful. Horrible management especially in the in house mortgage processing section. Frequent turnover for a reason and pay is insulting for the work you do. Any positive reviews were written by management at First Financial trying to cover up bad work enviromant. No advancement opertunities and employees overworked and underpaid. Clique mentality forces good employees to leave and not be acknowledged for the work they do
Teller (Former Employee) – San Angelo, TX – August 22, 2017
Very high turn over rate Favoritism/ESP the teller manager Negative/hostile work environment Females are treated differently than males Unprofessional/childish management If you are in search of a positive work enviroment, in which all employees are created equally, this is NOT the place for you!
Bank Teller/Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – All of them! – December 15, 2016
High turn over rate Favoritism Affairs among management/ignored by hr Negative environment Unprofessional/childish management If you are seeking a positive, rewarding career in banking with advancement opportunities this place is not for you!
Longtime employees and management do not work, all work falls on newer employees who have not been given adequate training. Very cliquey, high school environment. Only plus was the incentive program, which as a new employee you'll definitely excel at because you're the only one working! Be ready for long lines of customers while you and those customers hear coworkers hackling in the back.AWFUL work environment.
!!!!Please do the research before working here!!!!
Personal banker (Former Employee) – Abilene Texas – May 7, 2014
If you like making friends, and hanging out with your co workers then this is NOT for you. First of all, you're not allowed to associate with coworkers outside of work, as it is "unprofessional". Secondly, be ready to spend major cash on your wardrobe because blazers, high heels and nice dresses is all you are allowed to wear; as it is not "business casual" it's just business. Management is terrible, you will catch several mistakes they make, then get blamed for it afterwards. So there is no such thing as duel-control with this place, if you are familiar with banking terminology it is a MUST!! Oh and last but not least, your manager will keep tabs on every single move you make, every outage in your teller work and drawer, every conversation, every email. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE WATCHED!!!!!
Gossip, two-faced people, horrible management, long hours and sorry co-workers
Great hours 8-5, no weekend. Great place to work if you are needing a job between jobs. No room for advancement. FTS is a shell company for First Financial Bank. FTS management are bankers or yes men that no longer can move up in FFIN so FTS was created as a dumping ground for the bad golfers. Pay is great for entry level, best place to work if you have NO Experience. If you know anything about your job from real world, you will be looking for another job within the year, Only the dead beats stay and they are running the show. First financial uses FTS as the hired help. Working with bankers like working for an adult day care. I seen temper tantrums by "men" wearing watches that cost more than my car. If you are a drama queen, you will fit in and most likely move on up. Just laugh at the jokes and don't use any common sense, not only will you fit in, hell, they will make you management. A big plus about working for FTS, they don't expect you to know anything about your job, most management are watching "how to videos" to fix the issues they created. No certs necessary and if you do get one, don't by a house, you will be moving to the big city. Again, great job for resume builder. When interviewing, use the phrase "My Pleasure", and look good, that is the most important criteria for most bankers. And a small side note, if you are looking for a new spouse, this is the place for you, inter department hookups are excepted, especial between the officers and the hired help. Not a bad gig if you are looking to trade up for most working class.
Gosip, Inter department hookups, Easy job, just look busy
Management vendictive, gosip, political (Bank environment)
