Great career!

Fischer is process oriented from the interview, through orientation and training. They will help you to learn and develop your selling skills but will also require a full commitment from you! The payoff is great if you’re committed and dedicated.

Pros

Great compensation and benefits

Cons

Long hours- you may work every day! But, you’ll learn how to manage your time.

Best company I've ever worked for hands down!

If you love beautiful homes, decor, people, and marketing this is the best job ever! A typical day consists of sitting in a beautiful model home, contacting interested prospects, greeting and giving tours to new people walking in, building rapport and discovering what their needs are in a new home. Networking with realtors, you have an expense account to take them to coffee or lunch. Management is very supportive! The culture here is amazing! The most enjoyable part of the job is helping people find and purchase their dream home. The hardest part is probably finding serious buyers.

Pros

Very accommodating when you need time off.

Cons

Sales meetings are 2 hrs earlier than your regular work day, and I am not a morning person.

Fischer Homes Will Provide you with the Training to Succeed, but you will Not

I have 2 years experience as a sales counselor for Fischer Homes in the Atlanta market I will speak mostly on what it is like to be a sales counselor, but some aspects of the review may be applicable to other positions with Fischer. I going to do my best to write a fair review. The First thing you need to know about Fischer Homes is that the company is headquartered just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. Of course, they do have a regional office in Atlanta, but their business practices are stuck in their Midwestern ways. In markets like Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana where Fischer conducts most of their business, there is not very much competition and Fischer is recognized as one of the top builders in each of those states. They get away with their laughable included features, poor land positions, and poor price per square foot in these markets because they are well established, not a brown box builder, and there is a lack of competition. In Atlanta, these poor traits are what you will deal with every day. Fischer Homes in Atlanta has only developed about 3 communities on their own. 99% of the land they own and build on is recession era or middle of nowhere property. They have a track record of going into failed communities and buying the already developed lots and hoping their Midwestern business practices will compete with Lennar, DR, Century, and the other big players in Atlanta. I cannot stress enough that you will be selling in a community that has failed previously under another builder and now Fischer has gone the cheap route, bought the already developed lots, and are hoping -

Atlanta Turnover

By the time I had been working at Fischer for 5 months, 13+ employees had quit between sales, construction, and management. Fischer has bought distressed land in far out locations which makes meeting sales goal extremely difficult. There is a tiny hand full of communities that sell regularly, and are constantly fought for by sales counselors. The work life balance was out of wack. Fischer offered one weekend off a month for sales counselors as a way to recruit, unfortunately that does not truly exist. It is also expected that you consistently work on your days off. I think Fischer could be as great in Atlanta as its Northern markets, but better locations and stable managers are key.

Pros

Nice to work inside model homes

Cons

You have no control where you are placed which deciphers your success

does not live up to what they promise

not a great work/life balance and does not seem to care about the individual - only the sale. Constant sales employee turnover and very little protection of clients.

Terrible Enviornment

Total lack of support. Terrible work hours. Established company rules and guidelines are broken by management based on who you are. Good luck to newbies.......

A great company and one of the best places to work at!

Every company has areas of opportunity where employees are concerned. This company has addressed some of those areas but lacks the momentum to catch up in some areas. They build a quality beautiful home and anyone thinking about working there can be proud to sell their product. It is all what you make of the opportunity.

Pros

Excellent product

Cons

Not willing to improve on back of house process that impacts customer service.

Stressful with Poor Management

They sell this company to you as an AMAZING place to work. You get in and they change everything they tell you. They say that they compensation is 100k+. Unless you are a longtimer you are not going to make anything more than your draw of 36k a year. Management is not consistent. You do not have their support either. They expect you to work all days off and they sell that you get 2 weeks paid time off. However, you are 100% commission based and basically are taking two weeks of unpaid leave.

Pros

Events

Cons

Poor Management, Poor Compensation, and No PTO time

Good Company

Good Company I was personally tired of rotating communities and losing referrals due to the rotation. All in all this a great company, the management change cause some changes but that is to be expected.

Pros

Laid Back environment

Cons

Rotating Communities

Great Leadership

Management genuinely cares about the associates and sales counselors. The culture is second to none, and every day is enjoyable. Since selling homes comes and goes in waves, it is stressful. Management does all that they can to support everyone. Communication across the company is excellent.
