Chance at Promotion at a Cost

A sink or swim company. Most stores are segmented so if you’re starting out at a new store you will rely on the kindness of strangers from other stores for additional information as tends to turn into the blind leading the blind. A ton of liability is put on the managers and the company makes it fairly easy to get fired if you aren’t liked by your store manager. Easily the worst point of sale system I’ve ever worked with. Easily the worst attendance policy I’ve ever worked with. As management they make you feel like you can run your department as your own store. That is not the case. Internal promotion is definitely a plus in this company but typically it’s just because of turn over. Typically these promotions are mapped out in advance by the store manager which doesn’t make a very level playing field.

Pros

Internal Promotions

Cons

Lack of Understanding and Care for Staff

Scandalous Management that lacks accountability

The job itself isn’t difficult but the lack of support & very obvious favoritism is what made the job unbearable. Most of management rarely did their jobs unless corporate arrived & were always difficult to reach when needing one to resolve an issue. Management also lie about career advancements to get you to go above in beyond. There was a massive discrepancy in pay amongst both employees & management that resulted in higher paying individuals not doing their job, practically collecting free money, & the lower paid individuals were overworked having to pick up the slack of others. Despite the great coworkers, there was an unnecessary level drama that even customers were able to see the tension amongst certain coworkers. All of this created a high employee turnover in that store. The benefits are subpar & the pay isn’t competitive as many places are paying around the same in the area with better benefits. If you enjoy being surrounded by a fiery cesspool of drama & doing 6 other people’s jobs around the store without adequate pay for it then this job is perfect for you!

Pros

Coworkers

Cons

Lack of support from management & lackluster benefits

I loved working in the Floor and Decor, Dad got sick and died- Had to leave for him.

I really enjoyed working at Floor and Decor as a trainee for the Forklift Operational position. My father got sick badly and died, no body can excuse sicknesses and deaths in one’s family: I’m replaceable. Family comes first & other jobs are hiring.

Pros

I loved my coworkers, I loved my new job description as a forklift operator.

Cons

I needed to communicate and not leave my MOD on question mode.

Not the best warehouse job

First and foremost this place does the opposite of what management says it does. There is favoritism and nepotism as a former employee you need to be a brown nose to be on managements good side the moment you talk back or disagree with them you are officially target you.. They don’t treat you as a person they treat you as a number there is always vto and you never get the hours you want there is no work first shift takes all the work and second shift never has anything if you want to practice to be a janitor then this is the job to start with cause your mostly cleaning and sweeping. You need to be fast but careful as soon as you drop pallets even if it’s not your fault they have a rule last person to touch the pallet is the one who is at fault so first shift could have placed a pallet that was broken if you come and pick it up and it falls and breaks on you then you get the write up. They have tons of cameras but they never seem to catch the ones who are at fault it’s not until something goes wrong that they pull you aside and show you the footage or pictures that were taken. Your better off applying and p&g next door. As a former employee I honestly thought that things we gonna be different management paints you a pretty little picture but once you are in you start to see how management really us and how they stab you in the back how they have favorites and how there is nepotism and you begin to see how there is only family members from higher ups working there. Maybe other warehouses are better then the one in Moreno but for me it was a waste of time not to mention they -

Unprofessional work environment

Work environment was very unprofessional and the company promotes based off of politics instead of qualification. Very toxic work environment. Management does nothing and puts all of the work on the assistant managers.

Cons

Poor healthcare and toxic work environment

Management

The management are poorly organized. They talk behind other associates backs in their office while the door is wide open. They say they care but then gaslight you to no end. They only care when its convenient for them. The "open door policy" falls on the wrong hands. When asking for a day off expect EVERYONE, associates and management to treat you VERY poorly. They will find everyway to fire you when asking for a raise and when injured.

Pros

Benefits

Cons

There is far to many to list

Nepotism

Good candidates for promotion skipped due to higher ups hiring friends and family. Due to the lack of growth the company was unfulfilling. Working hard to reach the next level seemed endless.

Horrible place to work

I was the assistant department manager of pro services in garden city. This store as well as this company is based upon a ridiculous level of politics . It was cliquish. The management team was not helpful or supportive at all. There is a lot favoritism in this location. The PSM was lazy and didn’t train his staff at all. He did not care about our growth and development. The store manager allowed for a lot of shady behavior to take place. The place was full of vipers. If you didn’t just yes upper management to death you had a target on your back. It was the worse company I ever worked for. It really took a toll on me mentally, physically, and emotionally.

I’ll never recommend anyone I know to apply there.

What is the best part of working at the company?Nothing to be honest. Everyone blames someone else for doing things. It’s not professional in my opinion. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? They treated employees like they were children. It was a complaint everyday and the moment I got called unprofessional was the last draw for me. I was hire to produce not be a babysitter. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? There wasn’t no culture and it felt unprofessional What is a typical day like for you at the company?Get their tasks out and do the job. If I didn’t stay on individuals work don’t get done. By doing that here comes the complaints of me on them making sure they’re working. It was just horrible.

Good Team and Benefits

The benefits received are good, good teamwork and environment, room for growth. Management was bad in the past but efforts are made to make sure everything is ran smoothly and efficiently.

Hard manual labor. Good place to work part time for a short period of time. The Knoxville store has a poor care level.

This job don't pay enough for the manual labor. The managers show favoritism regardless of work ethics. There focus is not a healthy work environment.

Pros

Hour lunch

Cons

Don't have good health care plans

Easy, starting level job

Simple job and light stress. A good starting position to move into different roles. Work Environment was not the best, feels like high school again, but if you’re young and looking to start somewhere this is a good place to do so

Upbeat, high-energy workplace with coworkers who are like family

What is the best part of working at the company?Great co-workers, supportive store management, opportunities for advancement and to learn if you are willing to work. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Sometimes handling customers who have issues can be a challenge, but managers usually step in to handle complaints and problem resolution. Being on your feet 8-9 hours in a shift can be tiring. The company is competitive with compensation, but retail wage structures are limiting. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Fun, upbeat, high-energy workplace (in store); company culture supports employees who show initiative and self-motivation. If you have a great CEM (store manager), as I did, that’s a huge asset and gift. The store in which I worked was like a family, with a wonderful sense of camaraderie and team spirit. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Busy from start to finish, meeting with residential and pro customers; as a designer, I met with clients, gathered project info, and then presented design options to clients.

Not the best. A lot of favoritism

What is the best part of working at the company? The paycheck was the only best part at working at this soul sucking company. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Doing anything wrong. You start off as a temp before your rewarded as a “red shirt” for about 90 days but during that time you have to be perfect it seems. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Fast paced. No culture at this warehouse. Dog eat dog world kind of vibesWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Very monotonous and robot every single day..

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Heavy fake and unfair. Most of the time is uncomfortable to see certain employees get away with work violations and nothing is done about it...I seen good workers quit because if the same reason...Most of this can be done by our store manager but his the one letting this happen.
