There are not "sick days", only PTO. If you call out or leave early due to illness or family emergency- it is considered "Unplanned PTO". You are only allowed 3 Unplanned PTO days per year, after that you are subject to a write-up. While it is understandable to keep a limit -otherwise some people with take advantage- it is not reasonable to expect people to not get sick or their children to not get sick more than 3 days per year. One person getting a bad cold can put them in bed for 2 days. You cant come to work sick when you are working with cancer patients because they are immuno-compromised. So you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. :(
