It depends on the volume of your store and the department you work in. Some stores are pretty seasonal meaning they are only busy during certain times of the year.

Greater than 5:30, one 30 min unpaid “lunch” break and 1 paid 10 min break.
For an 8 hour shift we usually usually give a 30 minute unpaid and 2 paid 10 minute breaks.

Minors are required to have 45 min unpaid break after every 4 hours.
Lunch breaks can be up to 1 hour, but no less than 30min off the clock.

Most of the positions are part-time. In some of the stores you can get up to 40 hours being part-time during the summer but for the most part you are struggling for hours. You may have the option to work at other stores to get more hours depending on your position but that's also difficult because of lack of communication with management. I have not seen much opportunity for growth with this company even department managers aren't making a livable wage so I am uncertain that higher level jobs would be any better. Food Lion is OK for a second income but not a sole source of living.
