It's not a bed place to work if you're into the grocery scene but I've always been into other Types of jobs so I am looking for something different it is also a good job if you looked in for part time

Easy at first until you realize how unorganized things are

Working here was east at first until a new manager became in charge. Everything became unorganized and more stressful. Not worth the time and stress since everyone seems to be quitting anyways.

Pros

Hour lunches, small discount

Cons

Small pay for exhausting amounts of work

Flexible and family oriented. Great overall. Really a family.

Loved the atmosphere and the staff was always nice and helpful. Pushing carts was difficult but only because I am a petite female. But nothing you can’t do at this job! Always room for advancement.

Pros

Benefits, always something to do

Cons

Pay, hours

Productive grocery store

A typical day at Food Maxx is usually the same every time. I learned how to manage customers and how keep the store clean. The hardest part about this job is doing extra work when your co-worker do not do their job. The most enjoyable part of Food Maxx is that you get to meet new peoples.

Ever decreasing hours, ever increasing expectations

The company is very top heavy and it becomes a hindrance. You'll have two or more supervisors come in, each one telling you something different. Then the president of the company will come in and tell you what he wants. The next week a supervisor will be back in and tell you to do something differently than what the president said and what they them self told you the prior week. Sales have been increasing each year, but the hours seem to be decreasing. At the same time corporate expects more and more from you. You never really know what you'll be working as you'll get called in on your day off at least once every few weeks. And you can often expect to stay late or get called in early. Now this is both good and bad. You get more hours and more money, but you know someone will come complaining that your department keeps adding hours. Then the next week they'll scold you because things aren't done and they're wondering why you didn't keep your employees longer. There aren't enough hours to get everything done because they intentionally keep clerks at minimal hours to save money most weeks. The only time you get enough hours are on weeks where you will be swamped anyway. Only management and assistant managers will likely see 40 hours a week unless it's Christmas or Thanksgiving week. It is a union store though, so if that's your thing there's that. So you don't have to pay for benefits and everyone can get them.

Pros

Union, benefits, possibility for advancement, great co-workers

Cons

Company is very top heavy, expectations become unrealistic, environment can be very negative, hours are uncertain

Very productive and enjoyable

A typical day can be busy from time to time. I've learned how to connect with customers and build personal relationships on a professional level with customers. The management is great and always hears you out. The hardest part of the job in all honesty is doing the carts outside. The most enjoyable part of the job is building relations and helping customers.

Typical Grocery Store

Learned many management and customer service skills. It was my first time managing a department and it taught me my strengths and weaknesses.
