Great place to work
Lab Technician II (Current Employee) –  Lancaster, WIApril 10, 2018
Great place to work.
You definitely work for the money but it's well worth it. Co-workers are easy to get along with for the most part.
Lancaster factory makes 640 lb. boxes of cheese. Don't expect not to work hard.

Stay Away
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) –  Clayton, WIJanuary 5, 2018
Extremely poor management skills of the supervisors and management made me leave. Supervisor would go out of his way so he did not have to communicate, he would walk right by and not even make eye contact. Difference between maintenance pay and production pay was a whole 7 cents, raise last year was a whole 10 cents, for the year, and this is a union job folks.
When you leave there they force you to sign a quit form so your not eligible for rehire which I thought was a spiteful slap in the face after everything I did for them.
Pros
People that worked there

Unskilled Management

Packaging (Current Employee) –  Milan, WINovember 20, 2017
You work hard for seven days and then you get two days off but when you get to your weekend you get three days off. The hardest part of the job is the physical demand. After a few weeks the physical part gets easier.

Production Worker (Current Employee) –  Sparta, WINovember 14, 2017
The culture at foremost is the worst. They say that they care about the employee, but in reality the could care less. The plant level management are handcuffed by incompetent people at the corporate headquarters. The scheduling and lack of manpower make it impossible for a family life. The turnover of employees and management is ridiculous, resulting in incompetent new hires. Its a mistake to start a career at foremost,,move on to mcdonalds.

Cheese Maker (Former Employee) –  Clayton, WIOctober 9, 2017
The management is a joke. There is very little training or none at all. They don't care about the employees or fixing the equipment correctly. The hours are ridiculous. You are lucky if you get a break.
Pros
The pay is decent as well as the insurance
Cons
Everything else is horrible

CIP Operator (Current Employee) –  Lancaster, WIOctober 2, 2017
Fast paced work environment. Majority of the co workers are friendly and helpful. There does not seem to be a lot of opportunity for inner company job advancement. Is a good job if you can deal with the hours.

Used to be a great place
Plant (Current Employee) –  WisconsinAugust 23, 2017
5 years ago this was a great place to work, now with a new upper management regime it is a terrible place. The current philosophy is just to make a good appearance, actual results dont matter. Compliance with corporate mandates is demanded whether right or wrong.
Pros
Free coffee in breakroom
Cons
Micromanaged by a bunch of yes-men.

Hard Work Has It's Rewards
Production Associate (Current Employee) –  Chilton, WIJuly 10, 2017
It is hot. The work is physical, but the pay and benefits are worth it. The company really promotes from within at the Chilton facility. The Chilton plant is not a union (thank God). There are weekends and holidays that have to be worked, but the compensation is fair. If you don't mind working to make your living than this is the company for you.
Pros
Overtime, great starting pay, benefits are good
Cons
It's hot in the summer

Worst Place to work for...
Bagger/General Laborer (Former Employee) –  Rothschild, WIMay 22, 2017
I worked frm June 2016 and I couldnt take it anymore lasted for 3wks...Its always 100+degrees and you're sweating like crazy...they have Air conditioning but doesnt even help at all...the men's bathroom/locker room is soo disgusting...its a very fast pace job always lifting 25lbs+ of powder bags. If you dont keep up filling up the bags on a constant fast pace you'll fall behind and once u fall behind you're screwed. SooO much paper work to fill while your filling up the 25lbs bags its ridiculous constant doing test samples on the flow of the job dont even have time to fill your paperwork. You'll never move up the ladder chain cuz your the bottom of seniority. Pay rate sucked starting @$13hr+..max pay is $19-20hr. You rotate shifts every week..u get 1wkend off out of 4wks...Coworkers are okay to work with depends who's training you or soo. Managements dont do anything at all. All they do is sit in the Air Condition office and talk all day. Don't ever work there you will regret it!!

Work/Life Balance is out of control
Maintenance Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Sparta, WIApril 27, 2017
Work has to be your whole life in this place. From the top down, thinking about work when you wake up, go to sleep, and unfortunately dreamland as well! I loved the challenge and learning and management has a plan to revamp all of their outdated thinking and processes.

Management and union staff struggle with not enough help!
Pros
Decent pay and benefits, plenty of overtime available
Cons
Little to no advancement, small team struggles, plenty of overtime available
