fun place to work, easy fellow co workers, a place to learn
Boilermaker Welder / Fitter (Former Employee) – Seattle, WA – July 13, 2018
Loved it. morning lined out who was going where and to start or finish work. people got to work with partner (s) or solo. Once assigned you stayed on project till it was finished. Did not get to see steel shop foreman out in the job unless really needed. He was hard to talk to sometimes if you made a mistake. Hard to catch in a good mood as well. The hardest part of the job was going to your job foreman etc and not being able to solve problems and then being left to figure out the answer. The best part was when things went smoothly. It was hard to read and figure out drawings a lot. poorly drawn drawings on new build. The best part was learning by doing.Working with someone who could teach you new ways of doing things. also being able to stay with partner if you got on good together.
Good group of people in the Shipwrights department
Shipwright (Former Employee) – Seattle, WA – May 25, 2018
Spent time in and out of tugboats and a variety of other working boats that call the Pacific NW home. The variety was great and the people to be around in my shop were easy to be with. Did anything from staging in ballast tanks to interior joinery.
harbor worker (Former Employee) – Long Beach, CA – March 10, 2018
Upper management Completely disconnected with regions needs and operating flaws. Personnel has extremely low moral, and serious concerns regarding operational procedures and future agenda on company presence within region.
Project Controls Manager (Former Employee) – Seattle, WA (remote) – February 13, 2018
My team was great. Everyone I worked directly with were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, driven& personable. There was not much guidance for advancement and the different departments were very siloed. Work was dynamic, challenging, and collaborative.
Maritime tugboat company that recently underwent massive reformation.
Deckhand Engineer (Former Employee) – Seattle, WA – September 21, 2017
Excellent reputation and great standards of safety. Foss is currently re-working their business model and will take some time to recover. Most office personnel have been replaced and roughly half the deckhands (Inland Boatman's Union) have been laid off.
Senior Human Resources Generalist (Current Employee) – Seattle, WA – June 16, 2017
Started working for Foss as a Senior HR Generalist about 7 months ago after retiring from the US Army. Foss is a medium sized company with a family feel to it. If you are lucky enough to land a job here you can expect to be surrounded by talented people who are more than willing to help you succeed. You can also expect a safe work environment where Dignity and Respect are a norm, not the exception. There is always plenty of work to do, so the day's tend to fly by. All in all a great company, with great people, and good wages and benefits.
Great People, Culture, and Compensation
Traffic, but that is pretty much something everyone working in Seattle deals with.
Accounts Payable Manager (Current Employee) – Seattle, WA – June 11, 2017
Company has great potential for initiating change management and continuous improvement, but is currently experiencing some growth pains and overall restructure. Great opportunity for someone wiling to wade through the 1970's mud to get to present/future state.
