System Support Specialist II (Former Employee) – Cambridge, MA – March 13, 2019
I really enjoy working at FMI. The people are great and the cause is meaningful. It was great to find a company that does good and you can get paid well. The only real down fall is work life balance. Everyone works hard and it is easy to get guilted into working long hours.
Accessioner and Histo (Former Employee) – Morrisville, NC – March 7, 2019
Foundation Medicine is a very intimidating environment. Females are pushed are by upper level bosses. Cliques form VERY quickly. Must have kiss a- - attitude to advance from within. Generally thee first week is okay. But if they do not like you even a little you bound to be fired !
Billing Associate (Current Employee) – Cambridge, MA – December 4, 2018
Truly enjoyed my time at Foundation Medicine. Phenomenal work culture and truly a company that prioritizes patient care. The team here is very supportive and everyone is always focused on doing whatever it takes for the patients.
Contractor (Former Employee) – Cambridge, MA – September 12, 2018
Project Leaders have difficulty in understanding the basics of project management which leads to over committing and under-delivering and lacks the understanding why the customers are frustrated with the end product. There is a lack of continuity across disciplines internal and external to the organization which drives confusion and chaos in daily initiatives.
No Advancement, Lack of direction from management, chaotic environment
Specimen Procurement (Former Employee) – Boston, MA – September 11, 2018
An innovative company at the helm of cutting edge genomic cancer testing. A fast paced setting with a high volume of interaction with pathology labs and various medical facilities. The workplace culture places a heavy emphasis on work/life balance, which is very helpful. The most enjoyable part of the job was making a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
Molecular Technologist II (Former Employee) – Cambridge, MA – April 9, 2018
Tough to provide comprehensive review; however, Foundation was an amazing company to work for with peers that strive for greatness. Furthermore, there is great transparency within groups and up the ladder as well.
Accessioning Technician (Current Employee) – North Carolina – January 27, 2018
the work is interesting. and there is LOTS of work. sample volume increases every day, but the staff count does not. company would rather pay overtime and bonuses to emoyees than hire the needed extra hand....strange and a bit irritating at times.
incentives, benefits, mission statement/point of the work!
long hours, mandatory overtime, cliques form quickly, dont always promote internally
Analyst (Current Employee) – Cambridge, MA – November 17, 2017
It's a nice place to begin your career. Plenty of scope to advance and develop in your field of interest provided yo prove your mettle. If you luck out and work with the right bunch of people it'll be smooth sailing to a healthy work-life balance
Technology (Former Employee) – Cambridge, MA – July 16, 2017
Company has a great mission and benefits... those who actually perform the work are a real pleasure to work with. Management is out of touch with the workers especially at the top. They hire talented and experienced people only to stagnate them and needlessly work them in circles on projects. Culture was once good, smart and engaging people working efficiently to accomplish something big. Unless you are a "yes man" who doesn't mind kissing the bosses ring, I would advise you to work somewhere else.
Good benefits and cool people (non-management)
Political Environment ... New products are lacking in vision
Productive and fun work place, culture is relaxed but hard working
Billing Associate (Current Employee) – Cambridge, MA – June 27, 2017
Great place to work, management is in it's novice stages in some departments. Not a stressful environment at all. Work Life Balance can be improved in certain depts (specifically billing). Work culture is awesome.
Strategic Account Manager, Hematology / Oncology (Former Employee) – Cambridge, MA – June 26, 2017
Great place to work but has a rapid pace… company was recently acquired by Roche. Once merger was complete, many cutbacks were made including, but not limited to the sales and business development representatives.
User Experience Designer (Current Employee) – Boston, MA – November 13, 2016
A good company to become part of the next generation of cancer research. Foundation Medicine is leading a transformation in cancer care, where each patient’s treatment is informed by a deep understanding of the molecular changes that contribute to their disease.
Hard to develop concepts in a very fragmented industry
