One of the better schools to work for
Teacher's Assistant (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - May 8, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedAs someone who was breaking into the teaching career at the time I was working at Franklin, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have now worked for a few other schools and realized how good I had it at Franklin.

Really chaotic, but lots of fun opportunities
STEM Rec Manager (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - April 28, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Being able to have lots of freedom in curriculum and to focus on student interests. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Not having enough admin support. Student schedules are too crazy and homeroom teachers do not get enough time with their students. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Engaging but often chaotic. A lot of independence What is a typical day like for you at the company? Energetic and fun. Kids are usually excited to be there. Lots of behavior issues throughout the day.

Great work environment
Engage teacher (Current Employee) - Vineyard, UT - October 18, 2022
I have been working here for a few years now and I have loved it. The school is only about 7 years old I believe so the first couple of years were rough, trying to figure out their place. But it’s gotten much better. They have great admin who listen and support you in every way that they can. It is also much more organized and much better communication than before. The kids are great and make it all worth it!

Horrible experience
N/A (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - August 14, 2022
I have worked for several schools and have loved my time at each of them. I have never left a review, but felt the need to do so for this school because my experience working there was not at all what I'd hoped. I felt very unsafe in my job, unsupported by management and even the gossiped about by them. Although I gave my all at work each day, I never felt seen or cared for. In fact, I felt that many could care less if I was there. There seem to be favorite employees at the school and although I tried my best each day, management and teachers alike treated me unfavorably. I watched employees around me get fired for treating others poorly, but then felt treated that way by the very people firing them. I didn't feel safe enough to talk to HR or management ever. When it came time for me to move on to a different job-- I wasn't even offered a goodbye, let alone a thank you for the hard work I sincerely had tried to do. The person in my position previously had a farewell party thrown for them. This felt inconsistent and disrespectful to me. I was very disappointed working with this school, especially where I loved their teaching model. Communication, organization and individual respect were lacking significantly. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience here.
Pros
Loved the students and families.
Cons
Poor management, lack of communication and respect for employees. Unsafe work environment.

Different but enjoyable environment
Academic Coach (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - July 7, 2022
I enjoyed my time here! The school is entirely different from a typical elementary school, but once you get the hang of it, it is a blast. I wouldn't mind returning here.

- Support from manager
- Overall satisfaction
Just back away slowly and pretend you never saw that they were hiring.
Mentor teacher (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - June 11, 2022
Just run away. Don’t do it. There’s a million better schools. The kids are behind, the admin is cruel and if you have an independent thought you are punished. The founder is a gaslighter and really needs to be removed from the school.
Pros
None
Cons
Pay is bad and you’re treated like garbage

Terrible Management, pushing out great employees
Human Resources Manager (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - March 29, 2022
This year's administrative team has lost more staff than any previous admin team. More staff have quit mid year or have been let go without notice than any other year then they send emails to parents stating they are short staffed and cannot hold class as normal. Teachers are pushed beyond their limits and are not given appropriate prep time. No one feels safe.
Pros
Discounted daycare
Cons
No job security

Great workplace and flexible hours
Mentor Teacher (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - February 15, 2022
I enjoyed working here a lot. There were some changes with management that provided some challenges, but I enjoyed my coworkers, students, and flexible hours.

good place to learn new things and communicate with children
Manager in Training (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - October 31, 2021
awesome place to grow and set your mind. Supervisors and managers always there to help you what ever you lack. Also, always get energized by kids laughter and innocent mind.

Best place I've ever worked and most fulfilling
Mentor teacher (Current Employee) - Vineyard, UT - July 31, 2021
I love working here. Don't let the reviews of employees who probably got themselves fired from misleading you. Like in all places there are a variety of people and some do their job great and others not so much. But in the end, if you do your job, you'll enjoy working here. There are a lot of non money rewards such as making a difference in children's lives, working in a family-friendly place, working in a pleasant facility, working with people who care about each other and so on. Sometimes there are people who work there that don't work out and aren't great co-workers, but they are good at weeding them out. Sometimes the pace of change is hard for some people, but they are always doing things to improve the school. They help support employees to be promoted and move up in their careers. They truly love the kids. The set-up is incredible for supporting the kids, which is what matters.
Pros
Family-friendly, employee-friendly, supportive
Cons
Sometimes kids can be brats

Amazing Staff & Wonderful Management
Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) - Vineyard, UT - June 10, 2021
Working for a school seemed intimidating. Going into the interview was so nerve wracking, then I went into the interview! Everyone there was so kind, and asked very thorough questions to get to know you and your personality. Not only that but skills. After the interview I walked out to my car, drove away, minutes later got a phone call that I was offered the position! I was so happy, and couldn't believe it. This has been my dream job for a while. Starting out, I was so worried I'd be awful, and wouldn't catch on quick. But soon enough I was a pro! This job environment is professional, yet very accepting & loving. They understand that you have a life outside of work, and when things happen, they understand instead of punish. If this company ever has an opening, please apply!
Pros
Great Management & Balance of Life & Work
Cons
Can't think of any!

Different but Loving Atmosphere
Academic Coach (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - April 2, 2021
Franklin Discovery Academy has a different model than most elementary schools. This may seem chaotic at first, but if you see yourself as adaptable, it's a great fit for you. Most kids truly thrive with this model. As an academic coach, you have a great opportunity to make a difference in students' lives. I loved working here.
Pros
Great People, Flexible Schedules, Great job for college students
Cons
Pay

Awful
Academic Coach (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - March 31, 2021
At first I thought this was a great place to work but I soon realized that was a big mistake of mine the management was awful the admin were unsupportive and unwilling to help especially the stem director he was very mean he would always talk behind everyone’s back no matter how nice you were to him he would say things about you or to other coworkers even though he was talking bad about those people to. I can’t believe that I stayed this long, the only good thing I can say about this place or the kids, these kids deserve a lot more than what they are being provided.
Pros
None
Cons
Poor management, admin, and work environment

Admin lacking in all areas
Teacher (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - February 7, 2021
If you love chaos, disorganization, lack of support, and unrealistic expectations by all means, go work at Franklin Discovery Academy!! Recesses and lunch are also with your class, so don’t expect a break. Looking for benefits or paid holidays? Nope! Nearly everyone is part-time so you won’t get that either. Admin will not support you. “HR” has no training or background in their role. Save yourself the headache and find employment elsewhere.
Cons
No breaks, no benefits, no paid holidays, low pay, no support

Management needs a lot of improvement. Most of the students are a joy.
Academic Coach (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - January 5, 2021
The founder, principal, and other management do not strive for a good work environment. There is a high turnover rate for the staff. The students are not held accountable for there own actions in most instances. Students have a hard time adjusting to scools that require structure, book learning or real math. The pay is poor and most of the staff is part time. Overall I would not recommend this school as a staff member or a student.
Pros
Half priced lunches for staff. The joy of seeing the students.
Cons
No break's allowed. Lunch supervising students

Chaos
Support Staff (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - July 13, 2019
The school should be one of the best schools in the state. It 's not thanks to the founder of the school. The founder lacks organizational skills and understanding of student behavior to run a school. The staff and students pay the price for this. There is a lack of communication and organization throughout the school. Most of the staff is part time and that adds to the chaos. There is high staff turnover and low pay. I have seen many of my excellent colleagues leave. The school does have a great onsite daycare with a staff discount.
Pros
daycare, students and most of the staff
Cons
communication, organization, pay, staff turnover, benefits

Great place to work!
Para Educator (Former Employee) - Vineyard Glen, UT - June 30, 2019
Worked in the Special Ed Department and I loved working with the kids! We all worked together well and the kids love you. Great teachers for the most part.

It’s great!
Academic Coach (Current Employee) - Vineyard, UT - May 24, 2019
If you like working with kids, have a lot of patience, and can work in a constantly-moving environment, this is a good job for you! Wage isn’t bad. Free lunches every day if you sit with your class and watch over them. A lot of the other employees communicate effectively through email, and for the most part they’re kind people.
Pros
Free lunches, kind coworkers and managers, energetic environment
Cons
Not a lot of down time or break time

Great School
ACADEMIC COACH (Former Employee) - Vineyard, UT - December 27, 2018
I started working at the school when it was just getting started, it was a wonderful growing experience and I heard that since I worked there it has really gotten on its feet. I would highly recommend working here.

Lots of Energy
Academic Coach (Current Employee) - Vineyard, UT - June 15, 2018
I loved working at Franklin Discovery Academy almost purely because of the kids. They were so much fun and I looked forward to seeing them almost every day. There is a lot of miscommunication between teachers/staff at the school that was hard to deal with sometimes, but overall I loved my experience here.
Pros
Fun kids, weekends off, high energy
Cons
Poor communication, tiring days, not great pay
