Not a Conservation Organization
Horticulture Technician (Former Employee) – Columbus, OH – December 11, 2017
There are many small adjustments the conservatory could make to achieve a more sustainable operation. For instance, when plants are deficient or weakened for any reason, there isn't a nursery, they are disposed of and replaced. There are no soil moisture sensors, and irrigation runs in the rain, and the connected rain barrels at the green house aren't used for rain collection--but rather aesthetics. Management decisions revolve around events like weddings and benefit ceremonies than they do on tourism or conservation. Lastly, the pay is horrible. I was a seasonal employee hoping to gain horticultural knowledge, but ended up working as a manual landscape laborer for 8 months. I learned little to nothing working here.
