Clicklist Associate in Portland, OR

Coworkers great, customers not so great
I've only worked for Fred Meyer for a few months honestly before I quit, however somethings I've learned. Other departments don't really like Clicklist. I overheard one meat employee complaining about Clicklist to a customer. Food department was generally lazy and wouldn't go get stuff for us most the time unless you asked a higher up in the department. Some of them were really great though and helpful. My department manager was great. He was very nice and understanding. Worked around my schedule needs as much as possible but that was harder to do once 2020 hit and the coronavirus became an issue. Corporate sucks though. They don't care about employees health over selling things and take limited precautions to ensure safety unlike other grocery stores that set limits on how many people can come in and disinfect everything at checkout after every customer. Customers are super entitled too and doesn't matter if you're new. They'll pull some kind of holier than thou stunt on you and just be rude if you dont know where something is even though its not your duty to know where things are stocked.

Great place to work
Great place to work, great friendly management and co workers. My starting pay was 10.75 in 2001 not sure what it is now. I was a cashier in the grocery department. They had a list of produce codes for you to study each h week and then be tested on weekly. I got secret shopped and got 5 out of 5 for outstanding customer service!

That what you see on tv is fake
Sad and displeasing managment culture. Opportunity only awaits those who know certain individuals instead of those that are hard working and actually knows what there doing. Those who have authority constantly lie while at the same time smiling in your face with different motives. Dosen't matter what store it is , it's just the culture of retail.

Enjoy inconsistency and poor management? This is the company for you.
- management does not post schedules in a timely manner; usually a couple of days before the next work week. - very inconsistent scheduling; one week you will work two or three days, another week, you will work five days. (I was signed on as PT) - do not respect your request for time off and will very rarely put it into the schedule; would also get upset when asking for the time off. - have multiple other employees who work in your department, but they purposefully understaff your section. - management is rarely helpful; usually demanding that you work faster with no examples on how to do so efficiently. - received no forms of training once I was hired on; was put into the department and told to basically get to work. - higher-ups are condescending; it starts from the top and trickles down. - if management comes in upset, they like to take it out on their subordinates. There could be more to talk about but to sum up my experience working at this company it's that management was not helpful, they're very inconsistent, talked down to you, and do not seem suited for their job; they have been appointed their positions instead of earning or promotion. The position as a receiving clerk was alright, was simple. repetitive, and could be manageable, but management would do their best to make it difficult.

It was different every time . The first interviewed was my coworker hired at the same time they asked her why she thought she would be a good fit. There is no right answer but I would suggest you don't lie or make up senarios because they want as real answers as possible. for me the questions were very different they were quite interested to know if I had any experience working retail I said no they then asked if faced with certain choices what would my decisions be again no right or wrong answers just answer as truthfully as possible

My interview was the best I have ever experienced honestly. I was asked to give examples of how I have dealt with difficult customers in the past, the outcome of the situation and would I change how I dealt with it, Asked to give an example of a time I had an issue with a coworker and was it resolved or how it was resolved, they asked that if I was scheduled only a half day would I be available to work the entire day if I was called in early or asked to stay later, what is my strongest attribute as an employee, what is my weakest attribute as an employee, they gave me a mathematical calculation to figure out for an antibiotic, what attributes makes a good leader, why would they hire me over another candidate, and why did I leave my last job.
