I had learned a lot from my coworkers. My manager was very willing to guide me along the way. I felt valued. My position was partly supported by the university, so I had chance to go to conferences and other professional development opportunities.

Very flexible schedule, pay was very good, only thing I don’t like is some co-workers treats you bad. Some favoritism too, the scheduling isn’t fair because same people are getting more hours. Some only getting short/few hours.

The key to working at the county is being able to tolerate the overall purposelessness and culture of incompetence in the long run. If you can do OK in this kind of environment, you will have a decent-paying job and good work-life balance. Your quality of work has no bearing on your advancement, which is dependent solely on how long you're willing to hang around.
