Certificated faculty members earn up to ten sick days per year, which we can use when we are sick. If we have to use more than 3 days in a row, I'm pretty sure there are some guidelines about that (doctor's note, long-term sub, etc.) Writing sub plans is very time consuming, especially now with the expectation that small group instruction must occur in all subject areas, so most teachers work even when we are sick. This isn't good for the students in the classroom, the rest of the staff in the building, or the sick staff member.

Generally, teachers at FCPS love teaching students and work tirelessly to see that our students make the gains that they should. It is my sense that there is an overall frustration with the workload and the seemingly impossible expectations that are put upon teachers.
