Get rid of half of the useless managers and arrogant self-centered desk clowns that constantly think of 10 more odd-jobs for clinical and biomed staff to do, while sitting on their butts and doing nothing, but playing with spreadsheets, themselves. This company is just a big managers club. It's all about them. They get free vehicles, some even get free heavy-duty pickup trucks, meanwhile they constantly find yet one more monthly odd job or check that needs to be done that doesn't amount to a hill of beans and does not affect patient outcomes one iota. The patients are cattle and the clinical staff are just the lowly work hands that is the machinery used to feed the big manager's party up above. For some reason they keep asking our opinions in a yearly survey and the numbers come back morbid each year showing just how bad things really are across the country and they never get the message. They don't take one thing back off of you and they find 20 more things for you to do. They think that everything in life should have a log that tracks it. The number of times you blink per day. The number of breaths you take each day. Everything needs a log, and then they sit and wonder why there is such a broad scope of human error in a job that expects you to track every time an electron moves through your body. Their motto is they set the standards by which others in the industry are judged. The truth is they arbitrarily make the standards so ridiculously over-the-top that nobody could possibly do everything exactly by the book and how it's supposed to be done. Other companies in the industry don't set the standard so high because they aren't crazy enough to try and kill their employees with this ridiculous walk-on-water madness. Also, their machines are junk. They aren't designed to keep people alive. They are designed to sell parts. Selling replacement parts is key, keeping people alive is secondary.
Stop treating your machine technicians like mangy dogs. They are the backbone of the operation of the entire infrastructure and yet they keep leaving like mice jumping off of a ship. The numbers have come in and it is official that the majority of them across the country do not like their jobs. Learning how one of our machines work is not something that is learned in a couple of months. It literally takes years to finally get it down. When an experienced technician leaves, you will not recoup that loss for years to come and the clinics and hospitals that were being supported by that person will absolutely suffer during that transition. Furthermore, I don't think any of us were interested in being auditors. Make the clinic manager liable for mistakes in logs. Why on Earth should the guy who fixes machines be the one who audits the nurse's logs? That is just stupid. Last time I checked, the internal auditors who visit before a state survey don't have to maintain machines and water systems anywhere during the meantime. Instead they simply audit everything. How can you expect someone who is burdened with cultures, inventory, facility conditions, and medical equipment to be concerned about everyone's logs? And I don't know what the point of an employee engagement survey is every year if nothing is ever going to change.
