beautiful place with nice employees
Designer (Former Employee) –  Jamestown, NCOctober 29, 2018
The direction of executive management is not consistent or long sighted. It is flippant, self-serving and greedy. This effects morale of employees obviously and the clients can see right through it no matter what. Many employees there are quite knowledgeable in the furniture industry yet do not have "design" experience. While neither is better in the grand scheme of life, it is misleading to the customer to tell them they are getting free design service. The customer justifiably expects both with that statement. Because the rules are always changing there is a level of fear of the unknown that is always in the air. That is sad as it could be the most enchanting place! it looks like it!!!!

Delivery Specialist (Former Employee) –  Jamestown, NCOctober 8, 2018
If you enjoy a fast paced work life then this is the place to go. As a home delivery specialist, you spent at least 4 days away from home delivering furniture. Compensation was based on weight and delivery zone plus per diem and tips.

Delivery Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Jamestown, NCJune 25, 2018
I started at FLS as a receptionist while finishing high school and continued to work there for several years. I loved for working for this company and was sad to leave due to relocation.

In Home Delivery Driver Class B (Current Employee) –  High Point, NCJune 12, 2018
If you are a physically fit well spoken young man who can lift a 300lb piece of furniture upstairs and you are working a dead end job making less than 40k per year then this job is for you. No experience needed. They will get you your class b license and put you in a truck. You have to be away from home in a hotel at least 2 nights per week. always monday night and rotating thursday/friday nights. But you will make 50k + tips. The sacrifice is that you have a high chance of injury. And when you get injured, if its serious, they will stab you in the back, hang you by your ankles and leave you out to dry. The best thing to do is work here for 2-4 years and save up your money for something else. And buy a mattress while you are here it is 50% off wholesale. so a $2000 mattress is about 400$
Pros
Mattress discounts, $1000 per week or more
Cons
Long hours, risk of permanent disability, away from home

Furnitureland South Review
Floor Design Technician (Part Time) (Current Employee) –  Jamestown, NCJune 11, 2018
A typical day could vary based on the amount of transfers that would come in for the next day. I learned to constantly adapt my methodology for certain aspects of the job as there were always better ways to do different tasks. Management was well maintained at my level of work but over them was where management became questionable through certain actions they would do.

Sales & Design Consultant (Former Employee) –  High Point, NCMarch 5, 2018
Pay was very competitive. Awesome benefits. Amazing family to work for. Co-workers became friends and family. Hours were great in comparison to a lot of furniture companies. More options than you can imagine for the customer. I started my furniture career many many years ago at FLS and I still to this day say if you can’t find it there then it doesn’t exist. They have everything!

Awesome product training weekly and even daily!
Pros
Pay benefits and people

Creative and competitive atomosphere
Design Consultant (Former Employee) –  Jamestown, NCFebruary 20, 2018
Provides the opportunity to work with national and international clients and the environment fosters creativity. Though the job offers much training about product and provides desirable benefits, the culture is ultra competitive and often cut throat.

Family owned business. A very profitable business that strives to keep up in the furniture trends , however does not have a good relationship with vendors.

Sales / Interior Designer (Former Employee) –  High Point, NCJanuary 23, 2018
Management did not show empathy for the employee base.

There was a true competitive culture that caused decent among the sales staff.

Over 300 manufacturers that each sales person was asked to understand and sell.

Housekeeping (Former Employee) –  Jamestown, NCDecember 30, 2017
They like to set you up for failure and pit you against your co-workers to work against each other instead of with each other. The mood always seems so heavy and dark.

Design Consultant (Current Employee) –  Jamestown, NCOctober 26, 2017
I love working at Furnitureland South. The people are great and the culture and comroderie is awesome in the store. As a commission only position it can be hard to make ends meet in the off months and the stress is always on you to do more and more and more. If you are cut out for this type of position then it is the place for you!
Pros
pizza every so often, discount, family events, market
Cons
commission only

Design Consultant (Current Employee) –  Jamestown, NCAugust 6, 2017
Very competitive atmosphere. Stressful environment. Commission only pay. You must be willing to commit a large portion of your life to this job. There are a favored few who are catered to, (given clients, leads and appointments, etc.) and everyone else has to fend for themselves.
Pros
Potential to make decent money if you are willing to put in the hours and full dedication to the job
Cons
No work life balance
