Low stress, a bit isolated
Digital Technology Leadership Program Intern (Former Employee) - Boston, MA - August 9, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhile I didn't feel stressed at any point, and my fellow interns were great people, I ended up feeling a bit isolated and that there was a lack of guidance from my manager. Pay was decent though.

Great Company to work for but...
Senior Reliability Engineer (Former Employee) - Chicago, IL - June 13, 2023
It's a great company with many opportunities at times but the leadership comes off as bipolar on how they want to reach their goal. Every two years we were promised a path forward and then someone new came in and changed the direction altogether.
Pros
Unlimited PTO
Cons
Career growth paths are constantly changing and difficult to achieve.

Its ok learned alot and now im ready to move on. If you're manager likes you you'll succeed if not watch your back. Sales are tough. It's not a bad company though

Money Isn't Everything
Lead Test Engineer (Former Employee) - Remote - February 8, 2023
They have the mentality that they are too big too fail and you are just replacing number in the cog. All they can offer is a big paycheck and a flex schedule.
Pros
Money
Cons
They do not support you

Senior Staff Engineer (Former Employee) - San Ramon, CA - October 5, 2022
What is the best part of working at the company? I have all bad things to say about this company. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Full of petty politics, super egoistic people, bad mouth management, super long processes. They bluff during the hiring process. No compassion for employees What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Super bad. Red tapes and processes will definitely make you fail What is a typical day like for you at the company? Do politics in meetings, do politics with co workers, do politics with other teams. Horse tradings in between sometimes

Great People
Sr. Technical Program Manager - Corporate Digital Workplace Services (Former Employee) - Wauwatosa, WI - September 25, 2022
Their best attribute is that there are lots of helpful and intelligent people. GE's compensation package is excellent. It includes Discretionary Time Off which they honor as much as possible. Some departments have training budgets which can help offset the cost of furthering your formal education.
Pros
Compensations
Cons
Reorganizes often

Not the same
Web Developer (Former Employee) - Roanoke, VA - August 22, 2022
Many rounds of layoffs made this workplace not the same. It started off a joyful place to work, but was harsh after a while. Teams are distributed across the globe so you’re not always working with people in your own office.

Overall good place to work but pay and training is lacking
Software Engineer (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - July 26, 2022
Overall a good company. Pros: - Good work/life balance - Job security - A large company with many opportunities for advancement Cons: - Pay has stagnated and fallen behind the rest of the industry - Constant churn in management resulting in lack of direction/strategy - Little opportunity for training and personal development

A place in turmoil, toxic and stagnant management
Principal Program Manager (Current Employee) - Foxborough, MA - July 25, 2022
Talent (i.e. engineers, testers, program managers) are capable, however the middle and upper management is less than desirable. Not a place to join if you care about succession planning, professional development and steady growth.

Typical toxic office environment
Tech Lounge (Former Employee) - Atlanta, GA - May 15, 2022
I loved the experience and my coworkers, management and other corporate employees not as much. Just a bunch of miserable older folks not doing their jobs spending their time walking around and picking on others or gossiping. Maybe other offices are better but I would not return to this one, huge lack of professionalism made it irritating. But it's great if you want a career in tech.

work environment was ok. GE came in and the environment became toxic; layoff every 6 months, pre-pandemic.
Senior Support Engineer/business Analyst (Former Employee) - Roanoke, VA - February 16, 2022
Work was ok, until it wasn't. Even though I begged for work, I was still underutilized and underappreciated. Actually created a new initiative, but it wasn't enough. I got caught in the pandemic layoff of 2020.

Team building culture. Knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Network Engineer-SD-Wan Deployment (Former Employee) - Atlanta, GA - January 6, 2022
The team that I worked with were confident, mindful proffessionals. They cared and shared the knowledge so that the projects were executed successfully.

A dying beast.
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - San Ramon, CA - December 29, 2021
Poor strategy and weak leadership have caused the company to go downhill since 2017. It has been shrinking ever since. Enormous amounts of money have been wasted on initiatives that never followed through. The Platform basically died in mid 2021. There have been and are well-intentioned people there, but when you continually shed employees for years because of lack of revenue, there's a deeper problem that well-intentioned people can't solve.

Great place to work
Staff Technical Project Manager (Current Employee) - Cincinnati, OH - July 28, 2021
I've been at GE (in some capacity) for 11 years, and I'm still the new guy. That's because people stay with the company. It's definitely a company who invests into their employees through pay and benefits. Before coming here, I was used to being the rockstar on every team. GE surprised me by being a whole company of rockstars. I'm regularly impressed by colleagues. It makes you want to step up your game in a major way.
Pros
Work from home, Pay, benefits, unlimited time off, Work/family balance is the best I've ever seen, Never a problem asking for family time or finding someone to cover
Cons
Advancement is mysterious, Sr leadership turnover churn is constant, Many potential growth opportunities but nebulous process to pursue them

Worse place I've ever worked at in my life
Service Desk Analyst (Former Employee) - Coconut Grove, FL - June 27, 2021
GE has the highest turn over rates in any company I've seen, contractors and full time employees left in droves, the management is awful, the pay is next to nothing, your forced to pay for parking, and just going into work everyday you lose a little part of yourself... stay away from GE.
Pros
The office looks cool, very modern.
Cons
Pay, pay for parking, no room to grow, management, everything.

It was a good stepping stone
Application Operations Specialist (Former Employee) - San Ramon, CA - May 6, 2021
I worked with great people and that made my time here fly by quickly. Priorities shifted multiple times and there were many reorganization. It’s hard to follow along with what’s happening.
Pros
Good work life balance
Cons
Too many lay offs and reorganization

Do not recommend
Administrator (Former Employee) - New Orleans, LA - February 16, 2020
Nepotism and racial bias! The local hub is a sinking ship! just waiting for lease to be up and the LED tax credits are over. The HR manager is a racist with a personal agenda. Comes in at 10am and takes 5-7 vacations a year.
Pros
Great pay and work life balance
Cons
Nepotism

Fun workplace
Tech Support (Former Employee) - Chicago, IL - January 13, 2020
GE challenged me every single day. I worked at the service desk and it was amazing helping everyone and everything IT. They will challenge and use people to their limits, but with perfect communication its not all that bad. I will absolutely go back.

Great Company
Global Asset Management Intern (Former Employee) - Alpharetta, GA - January 13, 2020
Had an internship with GE Digital through the Year Up program for 6 months, my experience was great get to meet and work with different people all around the globe. My job title was global asset management which gave me the opportunity to work with different people and not only did i try to connect and meet with people from different teams, they also wanted to get to know me and connect with me. sometimes had the option to work from home, my job didn't require me to be in the office all the time or i could go to a different GE location as well.
Pros
work from home, community service, company culture, no micromanagement, hour break
