Fun place to work, with great benefits.

A great place to work at with opportunities to move to other departments. Quarterly bonuses, and many community events that GMF takes place in that makes the company a fun place to be.

Pros

Bonuses, Newer Office, Gym

Cons

Sometimes repetitive

Meh

Thought it could possibly be a career but the pay was way too low. Advancement isn't dependent on skill set or experience. "Thank you" often comes in the form of pizza parties. Ok for transitioning but not a career move unless you turn into a favorite.

Cons

Extremely low pay

Good place to work

Good place to work. Depending on the department you are in managers are good. They are very flexible with your schedule. Pay and yearly bonuses are good.

Toxic Work Environment

They hire a lot off people at same cheap rate no matter what your career level is. Management fake smile while controlling everything from a bathroom break to when you can take off even if it’s an emergency.

Pros

None

Cons

Low wages, micromanaged, overworked, toxic. Executives paid well, free cars to drive

Great place to learn and grow.

I enjoyed my credit team and my credit center. It was a great place to grow and learn. If I had not moved out of New Jersey, I would have continued working there for many more years to come.

Great Work Life Balance

This is a great entry-level job. They do not pay for experience everyone starts at same pay which can be a great thing for younger people with no experience.

Pros

Supports Charities and Community Initiatives

Cons

Went from Non Metrics to Micro-Management

Meh

It's a job. The systems don't work half the time and if asked what issues should be fixed don't expect much to be done. You're a number at the end of the day.

Not bad, but not great either.

Co-workers and local management (including VP and AVP's) are great and helpful. Upper management says all the right things but do nothing to implement the changes they are speaking on. The company as a whole is very slow to adapt to new technology to make things easier for customers and employees. Constant system/website issues coupled with poor communication to employees and customers about outstanding issues. Each department seems to be operated independently which creates a disconnect. I do like how bonuses have been updated and are now based on individual performance, however they have been increasing the thresholds consistently which is frustrating and morale killing. Overall the job is just okay. There is not a lot of micro managing and the job security is great. The IT department can use a lot of improvements as well as project/implementation management.

Pros

Quarterly Bonus, Direct Management, Co-workers

Cons

Constant increase in quotas, System issues, Slow to adapt

Pros

Basic company

I started out on the phones like everyone else for two years and bust my butt to get another position with the complaint department. I was there for 2 years and then the pandemic happened. I loved my job but the company is terrible. Did not know how to handle the pandemic properly and started making people with good positions, rotate back to the entry level job on the phones and they don’t even pay you for it. Waste of my four years.

Pros

Flexible schedules

Cons

Low pay, terrible management

Pros

1 hour lunch

Cons

Long shifts.

you can work from home and not have to deal with that toxic office atmosphere

the officers are awful! they play favorites, and let it be known with their nasty attitudes if they dont like you. They will micro manage you if they want you gone. They fraternize with "specific" employees and they allow some of the managers to bully other employees. Management influences other employees, that they fraternize with outside of work, too be rude or disrespectful too other employees.the system crashes all the time, since being home, some managers dont want to take customer complaint calls!!! they want you to do other positions that you weren't trained to do and not give a pay raise for it, then they want to write you up if you make a mistakeTOXIC POSITVITYIf you like your sanity dont work here

Pros

found good friends there

Cons

officers team is very unprofessional and mean

Do not work for GM

They hire and open new Center in yearly cycles. one minute they hire 5 people, then a short time later they let go of 5 people. There is no consistency and Senior Management is the worst ever. Good luck trying to get what is owed to you, i had to hire an attorney. I still have friends that work there and they cant wait to leave. If you have options, pick anywhere else.

Pros

Discounted autos

Cons

No room for advancement

Unfortunately many are Unable to be promoted within the company due to no room for growth. I worked there for almost 5 years and there was never a position open for me to advance to or anyone around me to advance to. All managers have been in their position forever so it’s no room to grow a career.

Pros

Free lunches and a good work life balance

Cons

Underpaid

The environment is cut throat and stressful.

It will be very difficult to fit into the culture if you show too much integrity. The company allows bullying tactics and does not show fairness across the board.

Pros

Great benefits, training and bonuses

Cons

The company is not flexible and is very divided between oldtimers and newer employees.
