Employees can receive a “merit-based” raise at their annual review, which is 3-5% at best. Doing the math, if your hiring rate is $13 per hour, your raise will be 26-65 cents per hour, or $540.80-1,352 per year. That’s a maximum salary of $28,392 per year—before taxes—for year 2. People don’t stay here very long.
