Not a place to expect a decent salary
Electric Apprentice (Former Employee) –  Elkhart, INSeptember 23, 2018
Gaylor electric, was a good place to work however it didnt pay high enough to "work to live". An apprentice starting out will not be able to afford an apartment or many other bills starting off at 12.50-13.00 a hour.
Pros
Great Management, Awesome employees
Cons
Wages

The pay is very low, but the culture is nice and supportive. They are willing to educate you at a minimal price and are very protective of their employees when it comes to safety.

Gaylor electric employee
Electrician (Former Employee) –  Tallahassee, FLJune 19, 2018
Gaylor Electric could be a better company to work for if the management cared more for their employees and promote more minorities in their workforce. There are times when individuals feel like they are just a number, sometimes you are scared to voice your point of view. There have been occasions where open door policy doesn't exist.I can only speak for the site or geograpically area that I work in, other places may or may not be different. But to sum it all up this company could stay for some improvement in various areas.I started out loving my company and enjoying the work but over a period of time it came demanding and stressful to meet deadlines that were 2 to 3 months behind due to late start and incompetence.
Pros
they are easy to hire on
Cons
promote peers

Low Voltage Cable Technician (Current Employee) –  Noblesville, INJune 9, 2018
Gaylor is a great company to work for. The supervisors are competent and fair. Newbies to the field can learn a lot in a short amount of time working as part of a team.

Journeyman Electrician (Current Employee) –  Dillon, SCMay 17, 2018
worked in extreme weather, the management for this particular project is poor and bad communication, hardest part of the job is the heat and lack of access to cold water, most enjoyable part of the job is it's close to home

Crew Leader (Former Employee) –  Noblesville, INMay 6, 2018
A typical work day is fairly simple and straight forward. I learned 90% of the electrical knowledge I have learned from there. There are some amazingly talented people who work there that care enough about the advancement of others that Gaylor has an amazing education department.
Pros
management support, education, great benefits
Cons
Low pay scale

While there is a focus on career advancement in training and certification there are few opportunities internally to actually advance. The work can be stressful with tight deadlines but Gaylor Electric makes it very clear that you are their most valuable asset.
Pros
Paid Training and Certification, Free Lunch, Lax with punch in/out times.

Good place to work
Project Manager (Former Employee) –  Noblesville, INMarch 7, 2018
Gaylor was a good place to work. The job requirements were very demanding because of a lack of help in the management PE area. Overall working for Gaylor is a good place. I would work there again if it did not cause conflict with retirement.
