Computer Technician in Potomac, MD

Working as a Computer Technician, you go in knowing what to expect - answer customers' calls, fix machines that come into the office. At Geeks On-Site, my responsibilities were to answer to phone, set up appointments & technicians' schedules, send appointments to the On-Site Techs, train new In-Office Techs, fix any computers that came into the office, and make sure the office stayed in check. That may sound like quite a bit, which it can be during busy hours, however a good amount of time was down-time. Depending on the type of individual you are, that could be either a great or a bad thing. For students, or people with things on the side, this could be an excellent opportunity to not only advance your Computer Hardware & Software skills, but also to work on other projects. The environment was great, as there was also another business run by the same owner. A large percentage of the people working there were interns, however everyone in both businesses seemed to be determined and have serious goals in place. It was a great type of energy in the air to be working around, and also a very diverse environment. The only con I can find from this job would have to be the lack of benefits, and the commute. The commute to this job was very costly, and against the pay, most would probably say it wouldn't be worth it, and this was easily the hardest part of the job.

Flexible hours. Work every day. Meet new people. Drive to many places and fix a multitude of technical problems. Billable hours. You set your availability.

Everyone in this company has the mission to support you wherever you are. The HR personnel is always open to listen when you notice any mistake in your payroll. They have a Q&A department with people that always have an answer to all your questions, literally! My preferred: dispatch personnel is always open to attending to you even when you are on appointments or trying to find a customer address. If the client requires a part nor a new computer, their Parts department can find it and send it with all the paperwork done to came back for the installation. And for software like Antivirus or antispyware, they can supply you with licenses keys 24/7. This company is like a team working together to obtain best results everyday.

You can schedule your time like you want, but if you will put 5-6 days per week , it will not give you more than $2000 per month. Management is not good
