Terrible Place to Work
Engineer (Former Employee) –  Poway, CADecember 31, 2018
Poor engineering management and terrible engineering culture. There is a very clicky environment that dictates decisions instead of analysis. There are lots of DOD procedural issues when compared to other contractors, that aren't understood when explained. Raises are rarely over 3% which does not keep up with inflation and definitely doesn't keep up with the cost of living in San Diego. GA also keeps HSA funds instead of rolling them over to your account and extended work weeks "EWW" (required additional hours, no extra pay or promotions) are commonly used to make up for poor management.

Document Control Specialist (Former Employee) –  Palmdale, CAJanuary 25, 2018
One of the greatest things about GA is that they not only hire based on skills, but also on personality. Due to this, most employees are very friendly and there is a culture of teamwork and cooperation. The management is a little slow to make decisions, but they're hearts are always in the right place. I was desperately sad when I had to relocate out of state and leave what I considered the best job.
Pros
Great benefits, helpful management
Cons
Too many facilities spread over a wide area, desert locations not ideal for commuting

facilities (Current Employee) –  San Diego County, CAJune 28, 2018
Run as fast as you can. No opportunity for advancement.
Culture of blame and punishment

Managers hire on the "buddy system".
Management waterfalls blame for their own short comings onto front line staff

Housekeeping Supervisor (Current Employee) –  San Diego, CAMay 30, 2018
Typical day involves daily inspections of assigned areas, interacting with site customers working in partnership in project scheduling. Ensuring team has resources such as supplies and information to prepare for the day. Mentoring and training team on new processes or caring for their administrative needs. Daily rounding on teammates to ensure they are properly supplied and equipment is in good repair.

Hardest part would be when needed items are back ordered or not available is to make due with what is available.

Most enjoyable is working with customers and team mates in completing daily activities or projects exceeding customer expectations.
Pros
Work culture, team encouragement, mission oriented.
Cons
Changes in procedures come slow.

its a great company to work for. Management is very supportive. the overall culture at the company is very friendly. I enjoyed working there. I learned to use windchill pdm. The hardest part of the job was worrying about how long you'll be there. Contract rewards usually come after the hiring process. so like most other jobs, there is always a question about how long you will work.

Electrical Specialist
Electrical Speacialist (Former Employee) –  Palmdale, CAFebruary 20, 2017
Worked at test flight facilities for many years. It is really physical new construction electrical work. The pay is not competitive, no chance to promote to a higher position, and you receive a 2 percent pay raise yearly. The opportunity to advance is next to zero. They promoted with in to people who are not qualified. Very Childish and political shop talk. Never hear anything positive about their jobs. The management is constantly changing and they require employees to order material and only a lot few hours to complete a total project. The time frames are extremely unrealistic. Aside from this department all other departments have a hard time keeping their employees. Its great if you have next to zero experience, But do your time and leave.

engineer (Current Employee) –  San Diego, CASeptember 1, 2017
After a very difficult process (over about 7 years) this division of the company has finally turned around two large, complex DoD programs. Leadership is ruthless and unforgiving. President in charge humiliates subordinates in public. No chances for advancement from within.

Pension plan and 401K

Exciting, challenging, fast paced. Learned how to be a better manager. Positive work place culture. Hardest part of job having a supervisor who did not support his team. Providing support to our warfighters.

Very political and only "golf buddies" advance or get raises. Pay is usually good for a starting wage but raises are typically less than inflation. Diversity in hiring practices but bigotry runs rampant

All That Glitters Isn't Gold
Buyer (Current Employee) –  Poway, CAOctober 2, 2014
Growing Pains - Plenty Of Work But Not Enough Time or Resources.
Potentially a great work environment with fun and friendly coworkers. Private Company has been under the radar for so long but now is evolving and bursting at the seams. You will hit the ground running from the time you sit down. Your day will be filled with plenty to do and that is great but the demands on top of that are a bit stressful as the tools are not in place to assist with being efficient. Company is now being exposed to operating as a major player. Employees are overworked and managers are like robots who are only concerned with metrics and don't tend to employee concerns. Staff disintegrates rapidly causing repetitive vacuums and constant new hires. Most new hires are college grads. Experienced people leave and are rarely replaced. The untrained grads quickly get stressed out and then they leave. This cycle repeats so nothing is achieved and the work continues to back up for those who hang in there. Very manual operation for such a big company. If you are happy to just have a job, then you'll love this place. If you want to maintain your sanity and keep your stress level to a minimum, then look elsewhere.
Pros
Competitive salary, Awesome Cafeteria food and nice gym
Cons
Loss of personal connection with employees. Lack of proper tools and inefficient processes
