My experience is no. I successfully interviewed and was hired for the Lease End Experience position on October 1st, 2018. On October 3rd, 2018 I was contacted to complete CareerBuilder's Background Check Application and to drug test. I completed both on that same day. I was to start my position on October 22, 2018. I waited and waited to hear back from GM Financial as a final email was to be sent to give direction for the first day I was to start. On October 17th I sent an email to find out what was going on and got no response. After waiting 24 hours I sent a 2nd email to the recruiter who did my initial phone interview to find out what was going on. She called me within the hour and told me, over the phone less than 5 days before my start date they had recinded my offer due to a possession charge from 2015. No understand NOWHERE in the background check questionnaire do they ask if you have had any prior arrests or give you a chance to explain. In my case I had already completed all requirements of the court and had been successfully discharged from probation early had received deferred adjudification for the charge. My advise to anyone with any type of criminal record to proceed with caution. The greatest disappointment to me was that I had to hunt them down to find out I wasn't going to be hired. After such a good experience interviewing and seeing the company and everything I read about GM Financial I am extremely disappointed.

At the Defiance, Ohio plant, they don't care about stuff like that. As long as you can pass the hair follicle drug test, they'll hire ANYBODY, and that's not necessarily a good thing.
