Horrible
Primary care (Former Employee) –  Gila River Indian Reservation, AZFebruary 5, 2019
The enviorment is overall hostile. If you are new the other girls who have been there longer will try to get you to quit, if not they will make working there hard. Seen it happen, the turn over rate it bad because people don't want to deal with the drama. If you do make it past your probabtionary period expect a lot of gossip and drama.

If this is your first job right out of school don't do it. First day in training I was told gossip about other employees. You learn nothing, you do nothing unless you can get on the good side of managers and schedulers. Find someplace else to get the experience.

Pay is low, raises are based on percentage of your annual eval, however they doc you for silly things. Like bad reviews due to giving your eval slip to someone that doesn't like you. Chump change raise, 15, 25 cents maybe.

Managent is always changing their minds on policy, never taking responsibility, refusing to listen. They are never there. Lots of favoritism, people get away with a lot. It's like high school with all the different groups.Like I said high turn over rate.

Patients are some what good, you do have lots of people come in who expect things and sadly their demands are met. They aren't very focused on keeping good care such as making sure they see their PCP or keeping appts for follow ups. They get passed around. They also have the patient advocate department who patients go to, to complain. So they will breath down your neck until the patient is satisfied even if they are in the wrong. You get the council members too who come in and expect to be treated
more... like VIP. You deal with alot of scabies, bed bugs, lice, and pain medication seekers.

Do have good benefits and PTO accurals, you get the occasionally good manager.

Again if you can deal with all of this, and have tough skin, this is the job for you.

RN Case Manager, Per Diem (Former Employee) –  Sacaton, AZ 85147January 6, 2019
Great staff & patients to work with. Compensation is below the average but work environment makes up for it. Case Management Manager is a great person to work for. She cares about her staff & keeps them updated on changes being planned by Upper Management when able to share that information.

Became toxic
Employee (Former Employee) –  Sacaton, AZJanuary 17, 2019
It used to be a good place to work but then upper management became very strict about dress code to the point of telling us how long our fingernails could be and what color they could be. Also no visible piercings or tattoos. They allowed only 2 piercings in each of our ears. We were told no form-fitting clothes and no baggy clothes (make up your mind). Hair could not be any color except natural.

They also started punishing people for being only one minute late. They started requiring people to give 24 hours notice before calling in sick, so people were coming to work sick. We were also required to get a doctor's note in order to be out (after providing that 24 hours notice) and we were not allowed to use sick days> Instead had to use our PTO for the first 2 days, then could only use sick days if we got another doctor's note.

It was hard to advance as those with lower level licenses were overlooked and positions given to those with higher level licenses in spite of that person's tenure or seniority.
Pros
Good pay and benefits
Cons
WAY too controlling

Favortism/Unfair treatment- Primary Care Dept. Stay Away!
employee (Former Employee) –  Sacaton, AZ 85147September 27, 2018
There is so much favoritism and unfair treatment. Quality employees quit because the lack of management and direction. Certain employees are favorites and nothing happens to them, their attendance can be bad and the upper management will over look it due to favoritism. If Attendance was looked at, half of the dept. would be let go. There is no room for advancement unless you are one of the favorites. RN Director needs to be let go, not hands on, barley around for staff, does not interact with staff, Only around when it is time to Reprimand employees, Plays favorites and hires who she wants to hire, like friends and family. There is no loyalty in this Dept. STAY AWAY!

Clinical Liaison (Former Employee) –  Sacaton, AZSeptember 10, 2018
The benefits are absolutely amazing - the healthcare plan is one of the best around. However, the environment is so stressful that you WILL wind up using all of your benefits plus. The tribe is hostile to non-natives (this includes African-Americans and Hispanic as well Euro-Americans and other tribes), management is absolutely dysfunctional and corrupt.

Great place to work EMS
Paramedic (Current Employee) –  Gila River Indian Reservation, AZNovember 11, 2018
Excellent place to work EMS as an EMT or Paramedic. Competitive pay with best benefit package in the region. Fast paced, high volume 911 system with some inter-facility transports. EMS has primary medical control, this coupled with longer than average transport times (about 30 minutes) allow a provider to be an actual provider. Newest/best equipment to care for patients. Good working relationships with Fire/Law enforcement. Supervisors don't micromanage if you perform you duties as expected. Remember, the indigenous people don't want to be "saved"...treat people like a human being and you'll go far.

Board of directors needs to oversee management better
Management (Former Employee) –  Sacaton, AZApril 20, 2018
CEO allows and promotes unfair labor tactics in different facilities throughout the corporation. Employees are not allowed to truly dispute unrealistic discipline from their superiors. Requardless of their years of dedication and honesty and hard work.
Comments are made behind closed doors that community members are uneducated and feel entitled and nothing is done about it when the truth is brought to the forefront. Not everyone just wants to get even for mistreatment. Gila River is an amazing community and lead by a great council. The health care corporation should not be allowed to continue operating without stronger oversight by council leaders.

Community members are great but managememt is horrible and plays favorites
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Sacaton, AZJuly 8, 2018
I loved working with community members and serving them but managers were bullies if you did your job correctly. They reward people for complaining and noy doing the job correctly, and do not acknowledge hard work and team work. They will pick until they get you out. They do not resolve conflict but create it. Definitely a great place to work if they would find better managers

Critical Care Paramedic (Former Employee) –  Sacaton, AZNovember 14, 2018
Gila River Indian Reservation is an excellent entity to work for. The hours are 24 hour shifts ten days a month, but the pay is decent and schedule can be made to fit the employees needs. Hours are 56 hours/week minimum, with opportunities for much more than that. Overtime is offered for any hours over 40/week.
